Overview

Fedena is a web-based school management system that brings academic and administrative work into one place. It is best suited to institutions that want broad operational coverage and a choice between hosted and self-hosted deployment. Its main trade-off is that paid plans differ by module access, so schools should confirm the included modules match their workflows.

Designed for schools, colleges, universities and coaching centres in both government and private sectors, Fedena spans admissions, fees, payroll, examinations, gradebooks, attendance, assignments, transport, libraries, courses and communication. It was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Bengaluru, India; the company reports adoption by more than 40,000 schools and colleges across more than 200 countries and 20 languages.

Institutions comparing School Management Software, Student Information Systems or Course Registration Software should weigh Fedena’s breadth against the effort of choosing a suitable module package and hosting model.

Key features

Fedena covers core student and school operations, including admissions and enrollment, fee management, attendance tracking, gradebooks and a parent portal. That combination can reduce the need to split routine administration across separate systems, while the broad scope may be more than a smaller institution needs.

The product runs in a web browser without local software installation. Branded iOS and Android apps serve parents, teachers and students, giving each group mobile access. Institutions can choose SaaS hosting on Foradian’s servers or run a self-hosted version on their own server; the latter offers a different deployment arrangement but puts hosting responsibility with the institution.

Fedena offers up to 20 integrations, including biometric, location, payment gateway and online-class connections. Named options include Tally, Google SSO, Azure, Paybooks, QuickBooks, Google Meet and BigBlueButton. Its API allows external applications to read or enter Fedena data, including connections to attendance hardware. Fedena says stored school data remains fully encrypted.

Support includes 24/7 customer service, online and on-site assistance, and training on demand or by webinar. The paid plans also include one-to-one online training, automatic updates, email and phone support, and onboarding data and configuration.

Pricing

Fedena has a free open-source basic version and paid annual plans. The free code avoids licensing fees, but institutions comparing it with the paid packages should account for the module coverage and services included in those plans.

Standard: 999.00 USD per year, billed yearly. Includes 20 Core Modules, 17 Standard Modules, unlimited users, one-to-one online training, automatic updates, email and phone support, and onboarding data and configuration. It is the entry paid tier for institutions whose needs fit the core and standard modules.
Premium: 1399.00 USD per year, billed yearly. Adds 10 Premium Modules to the Standard package. It suits schools that need premium module coverage without the ultimate tier.
Ultimate: 1699.00 USD per year, billed yearly. Adds 12 Ultimate Modules to the Premium package. This is the broadest priced package for institutions that need those additional modules.
Enterprise: custom pricing. Includes the same listed module counts as Ultimate, unlimited users and the same training, update, support and onboarding provisions, plus product source code. It is the option to consider when source code is required.

A 14-day trial is offered. The paid plans all include unlimited users, so the stated difference between their tiers is module access rather than a user-seat cap.

Platforms

Fedena supports web, Android, iOS, API connections and self-hosted deployment. The browser-based service needs no software installation; self-hosting is available for institutions that want to keep deployment on their own server.

Who it's for

Fedena is a strong fit for schools and other education providers seeking one system for academic records and operational processes, particularly when mobile apps, integrations or deployment choice matter. Its module-based paid tiers make it important to check required functions before choosing a plan. Institutions seeking a narrowly focused tool or unwilling to assess module fit may prefer a more specialized option.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad coverage spans admissions, fees, attendance, gradebooks, transport and other school operations, reducing the need to coordinate these functions across separate products.
Pro: SaaS and self-hosted versions give institutions a meaningful choice in where the system runs.
Pro: Unlimited users across the paid plans avoid a per-user ceiling in the listed packages.
Con: Paid access is divided by module tier, so the lowest priced plan may not cover every institution’s needs.
Con: Enterprise adds product source code but uses custom pricing, making its cost harder to compare with the fixed annual tiers.

Verdict

Choose Fedena if your institution needs a broad school-management system, unlimited users on paid plans and the flexibility of hosted or self-hosted deployment. Its extensive module range is the central reason to shortlist it; look elsewhere if you need a focused product or want a paid package whose full module fit and price are straightforward without first comparing tiers.
