Overview

Donorbox is fundraising software for nonprofit organizations that need to collect gifts and run multiple types of campaigns. It suits teams that want donation tools alongside donor management and broad payment support; its central trade-off is platform fees on every plan, plus separate payment-processing fees.

Organizations can customize forms for their own websites or use donation pages. Donorbox says it has supported nonprofits since 2014 and is based in Alexandria, Virginia; its CEO and founder is Charles Z.

Key features

Fundraising and donor management

Alongside one-time and recurring donations, Donorbox supports peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding, memberships, events and text-to-give. That range can help a nonprofit coordinate varied fundraising formats within one platform, rather than relying on a donation form alone. QuickDonate lets donors save payment information for later gifts, which is relevant for organizations seeking to encourage repeat giving.

Checkout supports 52+ currencies and 15 languages, according to Donorbox. Its donor CRM includes segmentation and giving insights, giving teams tools to organize donors and review their giving. Listed integrations include Salesforce, Blackbaud, HubSpot, Mailchimp, QuickBooks, WordPress, Stripe and PayPal. API connections can link the account with other applications; Zapier and API access are listed on Pro.

Payments and security

Supported payment methods through Stripe and PayPal include Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Venmo, ACH, SEPA, iDEAL, Bancontact, BACS and PADs. The range is useful for organizations serving donors with different payment preferences, though processing fees remain separate from Donorbox’s platform fees.

Donorbox says it is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant and holds SOC 2 Type I and Type II certifications. It also says card and bank account data are tokenized and that it does not store credit card information on its servers.

Pricing

Donorbox uses a freemium model, but a free subscription does not mean fee-free fundraising: every plan has a platform fee, and payment processing fees apply separately.

Plan	Price and limits	What it means
Standard	0.00 USD per free; 5 team members; platform fees 2.95%–3.95%; payment processing fees apply	A no-subscription-cost starting point for small teams, with the highest platform-fee range and a five-member cap.
Pro	150.00 USD per month, billed $150 /month; yearly billing discount available; 10 team members; platform fees 1.75%–2%; payment processing fees apply	For organizations that need more seats, lower platform fees, Zapier or API access. The monthly subscription makes it worth comparing total costs against fundraising volume.
Premium	Custom pricing; 30 team members; platform fees 1.6%–2%; payment processing fees apply	For larger teams that need more seats and Premium support, including 24/7 priority support, an Enterprise Customer Success Manager and guided onboarding.

The lower Standard price comes with fewer team seats and higher platform fees than the paid tiers. Pro has an available yearly billing discount, but the monthly rate is $150 /month; Premium pricing is custom. In every tier, payment processing is an additional cost.

Platforms

Donorbox is listed for Android, iOS, web and API. That mix covers mobile and browser access as well as connections to other applications.

Who it's for

Donorbox is a good fit for nonprofits that run more than one fundraising format, need donor CRM tools, or collect gifts from an international audience. Standard is the sensible starting point for a team of up to five that can accept its higher platform fees. Organizations needing more seats, lower platform fees or API access should compare Pro’s subscription cost with their expected donation volume. Teams with up to 30 members that value guided onboarding and priority support can consider Premium.

It is less compelling for an organization seeking a free platform-fee structure: even Standard charges 2.95%–3.95% in platform fees, in addition to payment processing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Donation forms, recurring gifts, peer-to-peer campaigns, crowdfunding, memberships, events and text-to-give cover a wide range of nonprofit fundraising needs.
Pros: Checkout supports 52+ currencies and 15 languages, with payment methods including digital wallets and regional bank options.
Pros: CRM features, established integrations and API connections support donor organization and links to other applications.
Cons: Standard charges platform fees of 2.95%–3.95%, despite having no subscription price; payment processing fees are additional.
Cons: Standard includes just five team members, while Pro requires a $150 monthly subscription to lower platform fees and raise the cap to ten.
Cons: Premium requires custom pricing, so teams cannot compare its subscription cost from a fixed published rate.
