Overview

Docyt is a cloud ERP for businesses that need accounting, payment workflows and operational financial reporting in one system. It is best suited to hotels, restaurants, retailers and franchises managing multiple locations or legal entities. Its breadth is the draw; businesses looking only for a basic bookkeeping tool may find its multi-entity focus unnecessary.

Docyt connects with point-of-sale and business management systems to bring revenue, customer and transaction data into its workflows. Its integrations span hospitality, retail, restaurant, SaaS, ERP and accounting systems. The service runs on the web, Android and iOS; the mobile app supports expense management, transaction categorization, revenue tracking and financial reports, plus in-app chat and document sharing and storage in its free version.

Key features

Accounting and reconciliation

Docyt automates revenue reconciliation, ongoing bank and card reconciliation, and month-end close on its own ledger. Journal-entry automation and close-task management extend that coverage beyond matching transactions. The free Accountant Copilot plan includes AI categorization, bank and card reconciliation, month-end close automation and QuickBooks Online integration, making it a practical entry point for accounting firms that want to try these workflows without a subscription.

Payments and reporting

The payments suite combines bill pay, corporate cards, receivables, vendor management and budget controls. That range can help businesses coordinate outgoing and incoming payments with accounting, rather than treating each as a separate process. Daily flash reports, USALI reporting, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning give managers a broader view of performance; USALI reporting is especially relevant to hospitality businesses.

Controls and data handling

Docyt says its SOC 2 Type II controls are independently audited annually, and that it encrypts data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS. It says customer data is not used to train models for other companies or sent to public models for training. Its audit trail logs reads and writes, records corrections as new entries, and attaches an explanation and reviewer to AI decisions. Scheduled open-format exports and API access are available to enterprise customers, a useful safeguard for larger operations, though those export options are not described as part of the lower-cost plans.

Pricing

Docyt uses a freemium model, with paid plans starting at $99/mo and a 7-day trial. Its pricing is organized by entity: one legal business or location with its own books, such as a restaurant, hotel property or retail store. That makes the per-entity rate important for any operator with several locations.

Accountant Copilot: $0 /entity/mo, free forever. It includes AI categorization, bank and card reconciliation, month-end close automation and QuickBooks Online integration. This is the strongest fit for firms evaluating Docyt’s accounting workflow, but it is not a substitute for the paid suites’ payments and reporting breadth.
Profitbooks: $99 /entity/mo, month-to-month, cancel anytime, with a 7-day free trial. It is aimed at small businesses, and add-on modules cost $50/entity/month each. The modular approach starts below the hotel-focused plan, but costs can rise as a business adds functionality or entities.
Enterprise Suite: From $299 /entity/mo with annual billing and tier pricing by hotel size. It targets hotels and restaurants and includes the accounting suite. Its starting price and annual commitment make it a more substantial choice than Profitbooks, but its hospitality focus is a closer match for multi-property operators.
Custom Suite: Custom pricing and contracts for multi-location portfolios, with volume pricing, a dedicated implementation team, priority SLA support and custom integrations. This suits larger portfolios needing tailored rollout or connections, but requires a sales conversation rather than a fixed per-entity budget.

Platforms

Docyt is available on Android, iOS and the web, with cloud deployment. The mobile app covers expense and transaction tasks as well as revenue tracking and financial reports, while the web product serves as the broader platform.

Who it's for

Docyt is a strong fit for hotel groups, restaurant operators, retailers and franchises that need accounting across multiple entities and want payment administration and business reporting alongside it. Accounting firms and BPOs may also find the free Accountant Copilot plan a low-risk way to assess automated categorization and reconciliation. A single small business with straightforward books may be better served by a narrower, lower-cost accounting product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Accounting, payment workflows and business intelligence sit within one platform, reducing the need to separate those operational areas.
Pros: The free plan includes reconciliation and month-end automation, giving accounting firms a meaningful way to start without paying per entity.
Pros: Annual SOC 2 Type II audits, encryption, decision-level explanations and logged changes provide useful controls for financial workflows.
Cons: Paid pricing scales by entity, so a multi-location business must account for each location’s books when estimating cost.
Cons: Profitbooks add-ons cost $50/entity/month apiece, which can make a modular setup more expensive as requirements grow.
Cons: Enterprise Suite starts at $299 /entity/mo and requires annual billing, a significant commitment for smaller operators.

Verdict

Choose Docyt if your hotel, restaurant, retail business or franchise needs accounting automation together with payment controls and management reporting across entities. The free Accountant Copilot plan lowers the barrier to assessing its accounting workflows, while the paid suites extend the platform for operational use. Look elsewhere if you need simple bookkeeping at a predictable low cost: per-entity pricing, add-on charges and the annual Enterprise commitment can weigh heavily as a business grows.
