Overview

The Resume Parse endpoint returns candidate and contact details, work experience, education, skills, sections and an ATS confidence value. DocuShell uses its own deterministic extractor rather than an LLM, which may suit teams that want a consistent structured response without adding an LLM-based parsing step.

Uploads and generated artifacts are held in temporary processing storage and deleted when streaming finishes or in a cleanup sweep within one hour. Idempotency-Key handling supports safer retries; if a request is still running, a retry receives an in-progress response. These are useful integration safeguards, though monthly credits impose a firm processing ceiling.

Key features

Structured PDF parsing: The returned profile covers a broad set of hiring fields, including ATS confidence. The endpoint is specifically for PDFs, so it is not a general-purpose parser for other file types.
Batch processing: A request can include up to 10 PDFs, with batch webhook events emitted as files complete. That suits small automated batches; teams sending larger volumes will need to manage multiple requests.
Signed webhooks: HMAC-SHA256 signatures help verify event payloads, and support for current and previous signatures allows key rotation. Events can go to n8n, Zapier, Make, Airtable, databases, CRMs or custom HTTPS endpoints, making the API adaptable to existing workflows.
Bounded usage: Credits reset monthly, do not roll over, and processing stops at the plan limit without automatic overage charges. Predictable billing comes at the cost of having to monitor usage and upgrade or wait when the allowance runs out.

Pricing

DocuShell has a free web plan and four paid monthly tiers with API access and webhooks. Resume Parse costs 15 credits per resume; displayed estimates range from $0.027 on Starter to $0.02 on Scale. The listed monthly parse limit is 333 resumes, so buyers should compare that ceiling with the credit allowance before choosing a tier.

Free — 0.00 USD per month (billed $0/month): 500 credits per month, files up to 50 MB and PDFs/jobs up to 50 pages, but no API access. It is for web use, not for developers evaluating an API workflow.
Starter — 7.20 USD per month (billed $7.20/month; $86.40/yr billed annually): 5,000 credits per month, API access and webhooks, files up to 50 MB and PDFs/jobs up to 100 pages. This is the entry point for smaller API integrations.
Pro — 15.20 USD per month (billed $15.20/month; $182.40/yr billed annually): 12,000 credits per month, files up to 100 MB and PDFs/jobs up to 200 pages, with API access and webhooks. It fits teams needing more monthly capacity or longer files than Starter allows.
Growth — 23.20 USD per month (billed $23.20/month; $278.40/yr billed annually): 20,000 credits per month, files up to 100 MB and PDFs/jobs up to 300 pages, plus API access and webhooks. The larger allowance is aimed at growing workloads.
Scale — 63.20 USD per month (billed $63.20/month; $758.40/yr billed annually): 60,000 credits per month, files up to 100 MB and PDFs/jobs up to 750 pages, with API access and webhooks. It is the option for higher volumes and longer documents.

A free trial is offered. No seat allowances are provided in these tiers, so team size should not be a deciding assumption.

Platforms

DocuShell supports API and web access. The web option includes the free plan; API-based parsing requires a paid plan.

Who it's for

The intended users are ATS and recruiting platforms, job boards and sourcing tools, and HR-tech SaaS or HRIS providers. It is a focused choice for teams integrating PDF resume parsing into software, especially when batch requests, signed events and temporary file handling matter. It is less suitable for someone seeking a free API tier or a parser for formats beyond PDF.

Pros and cons

Pros: Structured candidate data includes ATS confidence; batches support up to 10 PDFs; signed webhooks integrate with common automation and business tools; temporary storage and retry handling address practical workflow concerns.
Cons: The free plan has no API access; batches are capped at 10 PDFs per request; credits expire at each monthly reset and processing stops at the allowance; PDF is the stated input format.

Verdict

Choose DocuShell if you are building recruiting or HR software that needs structured PDF profiles, small-batch processing and signed webhook delivery. Its strongest case is the combination of deterministic extraction and practical integration safeguards. Look elsewhere if you need free API access, non-PDF parsing or more than 10 files in a single batch.
