Overview

devtodev is an analytics platform for app and game teams that need to understand user behavior, player journeys, retention, and monetization across devices. It best suits developers, analysts, and marketers who want reporting and experimentation in one workspace. Its free tier is a useful starting point, but its caps on users, events, team members, and data retention may prompt growing teams to upgrade.

Key features

Behavior reports cover retention, monetization, and user journeys, with support for basic and custom events. Retention, funnel, monetization, and cohort analysis give teams several ways to examine where users engage or drop off. For products spanning mobile, web, and multiple devices, cross-platform analytics brings behavior together in one workspace rather than separating it by platform.

AI-powered insights are described as identifying patterns, anomalies, and potential growth opportunities. That may help teams spot changes worth investigating, though it does not replace the underlying reports. A/B testing and remote configuration let teams compare changes and adjust app settings in real time, making devtodev more than a reporting tool.

Supported integrations include AppsFlyer, Adjust, Kochava, Branch (Tune), Tenjin, and Slack. Basic includes raw data export, including API access; teams that need to work with underlying data can use that instead of relying only on built-in reports. Security measures include TLS 1.3 or similar encryption in transit, AES256 or similar encryption at rest, and periodic penetration testing. Amazon Web Services is listed as a data hosting provider in the EU.

Pricing

devtodev uses a freemium model. Free costs $0/mo and allows up to 25k MAU, 30 custom events, and five team members. Raw data is stored for up to three months. That is a meaningful way for a small team to start, but the member cap and short retention window may become constraints as usage and analysis needs grow.

Basic is billed from $33/mo per 10k MAU. It raises the limits to 250k MAU and 300 custom events, removes the team-member cap, and extends raw data storage to six months. The plan comparison includes integration and onboarding support, and Basic includes raw data export with API access. Its starting price and MAU-based billing are worth weighing against expected audience size.

Enterprise and Business have custom pricing. Enterprise offers unlimited MAU, 500 custom events, automated data provisioning, SSO, and up to 18 months of raw data storage; it also includes premium add-ons and support. Business offers unlimited MAU, 300 custom events, unlimited SQL, and up to 12 months of raw data storage. Teams choosing between them should compare Enterprise's longer retention and provisioning and SSO with Business's unlimited SQL.

A free 30-day trial provides access to all devtodev features and tools. The free plan and trial serve different purposes: the former has defined caps, while the latter opens the full feature set for a month.

Platforms

devtodev supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Its cross-platform analytics is intended to combine behavior from mobile, web, and multiple devices in one workspace.

Who it's for

App and game developers, analysts, and marketers are the natural audience, particularly teams that need behavioral reporting alongside A/B tests and remote configuration. Small teams can begin on Free; teams approaching its 25k MAU, 30-event, five-member, or three-month data limits should assess Basic. Larger organizations may need Enterprise or Business, depending on whether they prioritize provisioning and SSO or unlimited SQL.

Pros and cons

Pros: Retention, funnel, cohort, and monetization analysis cover core product questions in one platform.
Pros: A/B tests and remote configuration pair measurement with tools for changing app settings in real time.
Pros: Free has no price and includes room for 25k MAU, 30 custom events, and five team members.
Cons: Free limits teams to five members and three months of raw data storage, which may be restrictive for collaboration or longer-term analysis.
Cons: Basic starts at $33/mo per 10k MAU, and its price scales with audience size.
Cons: Enterprise and Business require custom pricing, so their cost must be established directly before choosing between their different limits and features.

Alternatives

For teams focused on game analytics that want a free plan with no MAU limits and predefined and custom dashboards, events, funnels, cohorts, retention, and real-time reporting, GameAnalytics is worth considering. Teams centered on playtesting and player engagement can compare FirstLook Engagement Analytics, whose Forever Free plan includes 100k player profiles, up to 500 playtesters, and 1,000 emails per month.

GameBench is another option for readers comparing game software. Unity Version Control is an alternative to consider for version control. ByteBrew is a free option for games and apps that want analytics, live operations, and attribution tools. HUAWEI Analytics Kit offers free data analysis with 30+ automatically collected events and 500 custom events.

Teams looking for event-based analytics can compare Keentics, whose Free plan includes 2M events per month, one project, one team seat, and 90-day retention, but excludes read-only SQL, data export, remote configuration, A/B testing, and UA postback/ROAS. PlayFab is another freemium alternative for teams evaluating game software.

Verdict

devtodev is a strong fit for app and game teams that want behavioral, retention, and monetization reporting alongside experimentation and cross-platform analysis. The free plan and all-feature 30-day trial lower the barrier to evaluating it, while Basic adds more capacity and unrestricted seats. Look elsewhere if the free caps are too tight and the audience-based starting price or custom-priced upper plans do not fit your budget.
