Overview

Describely brings catalog auditing, data enrichment, content generation and publishing into one workflow. It generates product descriptions, titles, bullet points and tags, while enrichment fills missing product details using manufacturer or supplier information. That pairing is useful when catalog cleanup and listing copy are linked tasks, rather than separate jobs.

Bulk generation can handle thousands of descriptions at once, and custom rulesets apply tone, style and content guidelines across outputs. Those controls give teams a way to keep catalog copy consistent, though they do not remove the need to check whether enriched details and generated text are right for each product. AI image enhancements extend the workflow to product visuals, while ShopAssist adds AI chat for customer support and shopping assistance around the clock.

Key features

Bulk catalog generation: Upload a catalog and generate thousands of descriptions at once. CSV and workbook imports must be under 100 MB and include a Title column, a constraint to account for when preparing larger or differently structured catalogs.
Enrichment and brand controls: Describely can fill missing details from manufacturers or suppliers and apply custom rulesets for tone, style and content. This suits teams that want data completion and copy production in the same process.
Commerce connections: It connects with Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Akeneo, as well as CSV and Excel files. This gives sellers several routes to work with catalog data and publish across channels.
More than listing copy: AI image enhancements aim to create consistent, on-brand product visuals, and ShopAssist provides 24/7 AI chat for shopping assistance and customer support. These are useful extras, but the central case remains catalog enrichment and product content.
Language and SEO support: Describely supports 18 languages and includes SEO copy tools, but it does not offer ad-copy or sales-email-copy generation.
Data handling: Data is stored on AWS and encrypted at rest and in transit. Describely says customer data is not used to train its AI module, and supports access revocation and data-removal requests.

Pricing

Describely uses a freemium model, with a free plan and paid pricing beginning at $0.75 per product per month. The free version costs 0.00 USD per free and covers 5 products, making it a small-scale way to assess the workflow rather than manage a substantial catalog.

The free trial includes unlimited product import, unlimited connectors and integrations, and unlimited users and team invites. Its generation and enrichment allowances are much narrower: bulk generation covers 5 products and enrichment covers 5 products. That makes the trial broad for checking setup and collaboration, but limited for judging high-volume output.

Pay as you go costs 0.75 USD per month, billed per product, for up to 500 products. It is the listed paid option for catalogs within that ceiling; the per-product term matters as a catalog grows. High volume covers 500+ SKUs and has custom pricing. API usage costs $0.20 per 1,000 tokens, with typical product generations consuming 1,000–3,000 tokens, so API spend varies with generation volume.

Kickoff calls and support through support@describely.ai are available to customers.

Platforms

Describely is available on web and through an API. Its listed commerce connections include Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Akeneo, alongside CSV and Excel file workflows. The API option may suit teams integrating generation into their own processes, though its token-based pricing should be weighed against product-level pricing.

Who it's for

Describely is best suited to retailers and ecommerce teams managing enough products for bulk generation and data enrichment to save repeated catalog work. Its brand rules, channel connections and multi-language support also suit teams that need consistent product content across stores. A seller with only a handful of products may find the free plan sufficient, while the import size and required Title column may rule it out for catalogs that cannot meet those conditions.

Pros and cons

Pro: Generation and enrichment share a catalog workflow, so teams can address missing product details alongside listing copy.
Pro: Custom brand rulesets and connections to several commerce platforms support repeatable, channel-oriented content work.
Pro: The free trial permits unlimited imports, integrations and team invites, giving teams room to check their setup before paid use.
Con: Trial generation and enrichment are each capped at 5 products, which limits evaluation of the product's bulk-work value.
Con: Imports must be under 100 MB and contain a Title column, adding a data-preparation requirement for some catalogs.
Con: The free version covers only 5 products, and catalogs above 500 SKUs move to custom pricing.
Con: It does not generate ad copy or sales email copy, so it is not a full marketing-copy suite.

Verdict

Describely is a strong fit for ecommerce teams that need to clean up catalog data and produce consistent listings across sales channels, especially when bulk generation and brand rules can replace repetitive work. Its narrow trial quotas, strict import requirements and custom pricing above 500 SKUs are reasons to look elsewhere if you have a larger catalog that needs a predictable bill or a workflow that does not start from a Title-column import.
