Overview

Facilities set dock availability and rules, and carriers and suppliers can request appointments within those boundaries. Drivers can submit arrival details, PO or BOL references, photos, files, and checkout updates using QR and mobile workflows. Teams can follow waiting trucks, dock assignments, yard status, dwell time, releases, and checkouts.

Load records bring PO and BOL details together with carrier and supplier status, messages, documents, notes, and activity history. That connection is valuable when staff need to follow freight beyond the appointment itself; it is more scope than a site needs if all it wants is a shared booking calendar.

Key features

Appointment scheduling: Published availability and rules give carriers a self-service route to request a dock slot within facility constraints. That can reduce appointment coordination, but the monthly allowance still matters to busy sites.
Gate and yard activity: QR and mobile check-in, document submission, and checkout updates connect driver arrivals to yard tracking. Teams can monitor dwell and releases alongside dock assignments rather than relying only on appointment status.
Freight records: PO and BOL details, partner status, communications, documents, and activity history stay together in a load record. This broadens the product's usefulness for freight coordination, though those records may be unnecessary overhead for a simple scheduling need.
Connections: The platform supports standalone use, CSV-style import and export, API access, and webhook event updates for ERP, TMS, and WMS workflows. HMAC-signed webhook delivery is described for appointment and load events, giving integration-conscious teams a security measure to consider.

Pricing

LoadMetrics Free costs 0.00 USD per free (billed $0/month). It includes one facility, 25 dock appointments per month, carrier self-service, supporting documents, and claims documentation, with no credit card and no expiration. That is a useful ongoing option for a low-volume single facility, but the 25-appointment ceiling makes it a limited operational tier.

Dock Scheduling costs 49.00 USD per month (billed $49/month). It includes everything in Free, one facility, and up to 250 appointments per month. The tenfold appointment allowance makes it the natural step up for a busier site, but it does not remove the single-facility limit.

Complete LoadMetrics Platform — Standard costs 149.00 USD per month (billed Starting at $149/month). It includes one facility, 500 freight records per month, and unlimited internal, carrier, and driver users. This plan is aimed at teams needing the broader platform and larger record allowance; its one-facility scope remains a consideration for multi-site operations.

LoadMetrics also offers a 30-day trial. The free plan has no expiration, so readers can continue with its lower appointment cap rather than convert to a paid plan.

Platforms

LoadMetrics is available on the web and through an API. QR and mobile driver workflows support check-in, but the platform listing is web and API rather than a separate mobile app listing. The service says it uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards and is hosted in the United States. Questions and requests can be directed through contact or support request methods on its website.

Who it's for

LoadMetrics is built for distribution, warehouse, and logistics teams. Its stated audiences include distributors, manufacturers, 3PLs, utilities, cold storage, food and beverage, building materials, and industrial supply. It makes most sense where appointment control needs to connect with gate, yard, and freight records; a site with one facility and modest appointment volume can start on Free, while higher-volume teams can weigh the paid caps against their throughput.

Pros and cons

Pros

Carrier self-service and facility rules make appointment requests more structured than unbounded coordination.
Gate activity, yard visibility, and load documentation are connected, suiting teams that need to track freight after arrival.
The perpetual free tier includes supporting documents and claims documentation, with no credit card requirement.
CSV-style exchange, API access, and signed webhook updates offer paths into existing ERP, TMS, and WMS workflows.

Cons

Every described plan is limited to one facility, which constrains organizations managing multiple sites.
Free allows only 25 appointments monthly; Dock Scheduling raises that to 250 but remains capped.
The Standard plan's 500 freight records per month is a separate quota to account for alongside appointments.
