Overview

Cyph combines private instant messaging, encrypted group video calls and scheduled meetings with Cyph Vault, which stores files, passwords, notes and cryptocurrency. That makes it a broader privacy toolkit than a messenger alone; it may be more than needed if you only want to chat.

Cyph says it uses multiple quantum-resistant ciphers, and its WebSign technology checks the integrity of the web app each time it opens. It also says it protects against impersonation without requiring manual fingerprint checks. The site reports that a Cure53 audit found no major issues in application security or cryptographic implementations. These are relevant security measures and an independent audit result, though they are not a substitute for deciding whether the service meets your own requirements.

Key features

Messaging, meetings and Vault

Encrypted messaging and voice and video calling cover day-to-day private conversations, while group calling and scheduled meetings suit planned discussions. Vault extends the same privacy-oriented proposition to stored information. Cyph says encryption is on by default and backups are end-to-end encrypted, useful for people who want protection without having to enable it conversation by conversation.

Telehealth

Cyph Telehealth offers live group video sessions, unlimited patient sessions, one-click patient onboarding, and secure notes, forms and history. Cyph says it is beyond HIPAA-compliant and comes with a BAA, a focused package for healthcare practices rather than a general-purpose calling plan. EHR/EMR integrations and call recording are marked as coming soon, so practices that depend on either should look elsewhere for now.

Pricing

Cyph has a free plan and paid options from $3/mo (annual). That entry price is for the broader Cyph offering; the Telehealth plans below are separately priced and should be matched to their specific limits.

Cyph Telehealth — Small Team: 10.00 USD per month for 1–5 users, 100 GB encrypted cloud storage and 15 encrypted voice/video calls. The call quota makes this a fit for low-volume use, not a practice needing unlimited calls.
Cyph Telehealth — Medium Team: 9.00 USD per month for 6–25 users, 100 GB encrypted cloud storage and unlimited encrypted voice/video calls. Its unlimited calling is attractive, but the seat band differs from the practitioner-based annual and month-to-month plans.
Cyph Telehealth — Large Team: 7.00 USD per month for 26+ users, 1 TB encrypted cloud storage and unlimited encrypted voice/video and group voice/video. The storage and calling allowances suit larger teams, though the listed user threshold is substantial.
Cyph Telehealth — Large Team (Annual): 10.00 USD per month, billed Annual, for 50+ practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.
Cyph Telehealth — Medium Team (Annual): 16.00 USD per month, billed Annual, for 10–49 practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.
Cyph Telehealth — Small Team (Annual): 18.00 USD per month, billed Annual, for 1–9 practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.
Cyph Telehealth — Large Team (Month-to-Month): 15.00 USD per month, billed Month-to-Month, for 50+ practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.
Cyph Telehealth — Medium Team (Month-to-Month): 20.00 USD per month, billed Month-to-Month, for 10–49 practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.
Cyph Telehealth — Small Team (Month-to-Month): 25.00 USD per month, billed Month-to-Month, for 1–9 practitioners, unlimited patient sessions and 100 GB/user encrypted cloud storage.

The annual practitioner tiers cost less per month than their month-to-month counterparts, in exchange for annual billing. Small Team's 15-call allowance is a notable constraint compared with the practitioner-based small tiers, which include unlimited patient sessions; compare the plan definitions carefully before choosing.

Platforms

Cyph runs in a browser without a download and has Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux versions. That range accommodates mobile and desktop use without restricting the service to one operating system.

Who it's for

Choose Cyph if you want messaging, calls and encrypted storage together, or if a healthcare team needs patient sessions and secure records in one telehealth service. It is less suitable when your practice requires call recording or EHR/EMR integration now, or when the relevant call or seat limits do not match your team.

Pros and cons

Pro: Messaging, encrypted calls, meetings and Vault combine communication with protected storage.
Pro: WebSign integrity checks, automatic impersonation protection and the reported Cure53 audit provide concrete security measures and audit context.
Pro: Telehealth includes onboarding, secure patient records and unlimited patient sessions on its practitioner tiers.
Con: Small Team's 15 encrypted calls may be too restrictive for frequent calling.
Con: EHR/EMR integrations and call recording are not ready, limiting fit for practices that rely on them.
Con: Telehealth plan names conceal materially different seat definitions and storage/call allowances, so price alone is not a sound basis for comparing them.

Alternatives

For other options, browse Encrypted Messaging Apps.

Olvid is worth considering for a free messaging plan with unlimited messages and attachments, secure group discussions and ephemeral messages.
Wire may suit readers who value a free plan and source code Wire says is fully open source and available on GitHub for verification.
Element is an alternative with a self-hosted platform option and community and enterprise plans priced by user scale.
Session is a free alternative with open-source code and messaging that does not require a phone number.
Signal is a free messaging and calling option; desktop use requires a mobile account.
SimpleX Chat is a free alternative for readers considering a service with an AGPLv3 requirement for alternative clients based on its code.
Delta Chat is free and open-source software.
Jami is a free alternative available on web, desktop and mobile platforms.

Verdict

Cyph is a strong fit for privacy-minded users who want more than messaging, especially teams that can use its encrypted storage and telehealth sessions together. Its breadth and security measures are the case for choosing it; the telehealth call caps on one tier and missing integrations and recording are good reasons to look elsewhere.
