Overview

HitPaw FotorPea is an AI photo editor and restoration tool for people who want enhancement, retouching, and image cleanup in one place. It suits users working across batches as well as anyone enlarging small or low-quality images. Its breadth is appealing, but platform-specific licenses, recurring plans, and separate Photoshop-plugin credits make the right plan important.

Nine AI models include options for general enhancement, denoising, faces, and colorization. FotorPea also handles image generation, object and background removal, photo editing, scratch repair, and batch enhancement. Its upscaling range reaches HD, 2K, 4K, 8K, and 16K, which gives users flexibility for different enlargement needs.

Input support includes PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, TIF, TGA, BMP, JFIF, NEF, and RAW; output includes PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, TIF, TGA, BMP, and JFIF. The desktop product processes images offline on the device and, according to HitPaw, does not upload photos. HitPaw CO., LIMITED identifies itself as the data controller and says it has appointed an EU representative under GDPR. Those privacy provisions are useful context, though they do not change the need to assess a service's own terms for your use case.

Key features

Enhancement, restoration, and editing

The mix of denoising, face enhancement, colorization, scratch repair, and general improvement makes FotorPea more versatile than a single-purpose restoration tool. Batch enhancement is especially relevant when processing multiple images; users seeking only occasional repairs may not need such a broad feature set. Object and background removal, image generation, and editing extend its use beyond restoration.

Upscaling and format support

Upscaling as high as 16K is a notable range for users preparing low-quality images for larger output. The product supports common image formats and accepts NEF and RAW inputs, useful for users starting with camera files. The stated output set does not include NEF or RAW, so those formats are input options rather than export formats.

Photoshop plugin and desktop processing

The Photoshop plugin adds an enhancement and restoration route for users already working in Photoshop, but it has subscriptions and credits separate from the main software. Desktop processing runs offline on the device, a practical advantage for users who do not want photos uploaded during that workflow. Desktop requirements are Windows 11 or 10 (64-bit) or macOS 10.15 or later, with at least 8 GB RAM and 2 GB free disk space.

Pricing

FotorPea offers a free plan and a 7-day trial, alongside paid monthly, annual, perpetual, and business plans. Listed subscription prices exclude tax and automatically renew unless the plan terms say otherwise. Check the platform and credit allowance against your workload before committing: a low entry price does not mean unlimited processing.

1 Month: 21.99 USD per month, billed with automatic renewal, tax excluded. It includes 100 free credits, nine AI enhancement models, and all features. This is the shortest listed main-software plan for users who want a brief paid period, but the credit allocation limits its appeal for sustained heavy use.
FotorPea Multi-Platform Enhancement Plan: 22.39 USD per month, automatically renewing, tax excluded. It covers Windows, PS, iPhone/iPad, and Android, includes 3-day trials for iOS, Android, and the PS Plugin, plus 24/7 technical support. It is the clearest fit for users who need several of those platforms; its price is slightly above the 1 Month plan, and the 3-day trials are not the same as the 7-day trial.
1 Year: 89.99 USD per year, automatically renewing, tax excluded. It includes 500 free credits, nine AI enhancement models, one year of free updates, and all features. This lowers the listed monthly equivalent compared with the monthly plan, but requires a year commitment.
Perpetual: 129.99 USD one-time, tax excluded, with 800 free credits, nine AI enhancement models, and all features. It suits buyers who prefer a one-time purchase over renewal; the stated credit allotment remains relevant for credit-based use.
Annual Business Plan: 256.95 USD per year, billed annually with auto-renewal, tax excluded. Options cover 5, 10, or 100 PCs and include 4,000, 10,000, or 25,000 credits respectively, multi-user control, free updates, and company use. This is designed for teams or organizations rather than individual buyers.

The purchase page advertises 24/7 technical support and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Windows and Mac licenses cannot be used interchangeably, so a single-platform license is a poor fit for someone expecting to move freely between those systems. The Photoshop plugin also has separate subscriptions and credits. A separate paid-from figure of 27.99 /mo appears alongside the plans; buyers should compare the plan terms and platform coverage rather than assume that figure describes every option.

Platforms

FotorPea is presented for Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, while the multi-platform plan specifically names Windows, PS, iPhone/iPad, and Android. Windows and Mac licenses are not interchangeable. The desktop system requirements are Windows 11/10 64-bit or macOS 10.15 or later, at least 8 GB RAM, and 2 GB free disk space.

Who it's for

FotorPea is a strong candidate for individuals who regularly enhance, retouch, restore, or upscale photos and want batch work alongside editing tools. Its offline desktop processing and RAW input support may also suit users handling camera images locally. The perpetual option favors people who avoid recurring billing, while the annual business plan fits teams needing multiple PCs, shared control, and company use. It is less compelling for someone who needs only a few restorations, wants one license to move between Windows and Mac, or relies heavily on Photoshop but does not want a separate plugin subscription and credit pool.

Pros and cons

Pros: Nine enhancement models, scratch repair, and batch processing cover a wider restoration workflow than basic one-image cleanup.
Pros: Upscaling reaches 16K, with NEF and RAW among the supported inputs.
Pros: Desktop processing is described as offline and does not upload photos, which benefits privacy-conscious local workflows.
Cons: Windows and Mac licenses are separate and cannot be switched between platforms.
Cons: The Photoshop plugin uses subscriptions and credits separate from the main software, complicating costs for Photoshop-centered workflows.
Cons: Paid individual plans include defined credit allowances, so the listed all-features access should not be mistaken for unlimited credit use.
Cons: Subscription prices exclude tax and renew automatically, requiring attention to renewal terms.

Alternatives

Choose ImageColorizer if you want a freemium option with 50 monthly credits, single processing, AI features, and ads at no charge, or a 6.90 USD per month Starter plan. Choose VanceAI Photo Restorer for a restoration-focused freemium alternative: its Starter plan is 15.00 USD per month for 260 credits, and AI Photo Restorer use costs 4 credits at 1K/2K or 10 credits at 4K.

HitPaw FotorPea is also listed with a 27.99 USD per month 1 Month License that automatically renews, can be canceled any time, and includes 100 credits; compare that offer with the plans above before choosing. Restore.Photo is a web- and API-based freemium option. AIPhotor is a freemium option for web, iOS, and Android. AKVIS Enhancer is a paid Windows, macOS, and Linux alternative with lifetime Home Plugin and Home Standalone licenses priced at 69.00 USD. Bringing Old Photos Back to Life is a free Linux option. DaVinci AI Photo Restoration is a freemium option for web, iOS, and Android.

Verdict

Choose HitPaw FotorPea if you want one broad photo workflow for enhancement, cleanup, batch processing, editing, and high-resolution upscaling, especially with local desktop processing. Its main drawbacks are credit limits, separate Photoshop-plugin costs, and non-transferable Windows and Mac licenses. If you only need occasional restoration or need cross-platform license flexibility, a narrower or more flexible alternative is the better fit.
