Overview

ChooChoo Loader is a free, open-source launcher for running games with trainers, mods, patches, or extra executables and DLLs through Proton or WINE. It suits players who already have those files and want to manage their launches with reusable profiles. Its focused launcher features are useful, but Whisky users face a specific compatibility caveat, and it is not a trainer library.

Key features

ChooChoo can start a game alongside a trainer or another executable, and supports up to five additional executables or DLLs. Before injection, it checks whether a DLL is 32-bit or 64-bit compatible. That check can help catch an architecture mismatch, though it does not remove the need to choose compatible files.

Saved profiles let users preserve launch setups and reload them later; the launcher can also open the last-used profile after a configurable delay. Recent files make it easier to reselect game or trainer executables. These conveniences matter most to users who revisit the same configurations, rather than those looking for a catalog of ready-made trainers.

The v5.0 release describes a touch-first interface with larger controls for touch and mouse input. The project identifies itself as MIT-licensed open-source software. Its GitHub security page reports no detected security policy and no published advisories; users should not treat that as a guarantee of security. Bug reporting is directed through the project, but no support service is specified.

Pricing

ChooChoo Loader is free: the Free plan is free, and the project is open source. There are no paid plans or stated pricing. There is no paid tier to unlock more profiles or raise the five-item executable and DLL limit, so the trade-off is a focused tool rather than a tiered service with expanded allowances.

Platforms

The project lists Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, with a launcher delivery model. Its documented integrations include Steam and Proton on Steam Deck, and Whisky on macOS. The Whisky caveat is important: it is unsuitable for ChooChoo-style gaming when binaries require complex memory manipulation. Players who depend on that kind of trainer should look elsewhere rather than assume the integration covers their use case.

Who it's for

ChooChoo is a good fit for players who already source their own trainers, mods, patches, or additional binaries and want one launcher to pair them with a game. Profiles and recent files favor repeat setups, while the compatibility check and five-file cap provide practical guardrails. It is a poor fit for anyone seeking a broad trainer collection, formal support, or reliable Whisky use with complex memory-manipulation binaries.

Pros and cons

Pros

Free and MIT-licensed, with no paid plan required for the launcher.
Profiles, automatic last-profile launching, and recent files help preserve and reuse launch setups.
Supports up to five additional executables or DLLs and checks DLL architecture before injection.
Touch-first controls are designed for both touch and mouse input.

Cons

The five-item limit constrains setups that need more added executables or DLLs.
Whisky is unsuitable for binaries requiring complex memory manipulation, ruling out some macOS trainer setups.
No security policy is detected, and no support service is specified.

Alternatives

For a directory of options, browse Game Trainers. Consider Cheat Happens for its free-pass cheats and trainers, profile creation, and message board access; it also has a paid monthly plan with three games per week. PLITCH offers free access to 712 trainers and a 16.66 PLN yearly Premium plan, billed at zł 199.92 every 365 days. WeMod is a Windows and Android option with keyboard hotkeys and, for newly created accounts, two hours of daily mod use on its free plan; Pro Monthly is 7.99 USD per month.

AurorAI is another free option, with unlimited free AI usage and no membership required. Rival Gaming offers three daily sessions and basic cheats for supported games on its free plan, with a Pro plan earned at 2,500 XP. GameBuff provides a free Windows client for browsing and using trainers for thousands of single-player games; its optional VIP plan unlocks exclusive trainers. RG Trainer has basic cheats for supported games and three daily sessions free, with Ultimate access earned through community XP. ArtMoney is a Windows option: its free SE edition lacks some features, while PRO costs 24.90 USD once.

Verdict

Choose ChooChoo Loader if you already have compatible game and trainer files and want a free, reusable launcher for Proton or WINE setups. Its profiles, dual launching, and DLL architecture check are its clearest advantages. Look elsewhere if you need a ready-made trainer catalog, formal support, or Whisky compatibility for binaries that rely on complex memory manipulation.
