Overview

Certopus brings credential creation, bulk delivery, tracking, and automation together, with API and self-hosted options alongside its web platform. The combination suits training providers, educational organizations, and other issuers that need credentials to look consistent and reach recipients reliably. Small teams can start free, but the plan's two-event and one-seat limits make it better for a narrow pilot than a broad, ongoing program.

Key features

Template libraries and design builders cover both certificates and badges. Bulk issuance personalizes PDF certificates and emails them to recipients, reducing repetitive work when a program awards credentials at scale. Public verification and expiry management also support credentials that need to be checked or time-limited.

A dashboard tracks credential reach and impact across platforms, while white-labelling lets organizations present credentials on their own website with their own branding. That matters when the credential should strengthen the issuer's identity rather than the platform's. Certopus says its badges meet Open Badge Standards and lists compatibility with W3C Verifiable Credentials and Open Badges 3.0.

REST API access and webhooks enable automated issuance and management. Listed integrations include Zapier, Zoom, Power Automate, Thinkific, Canvas, Moodle, Google Sheets, Make, and Pabbly, providing options for connecting credential workflows to other services. Tamper-proof certificates and secure data storage are included across Free, Standard, and Professional tiers. The privacy notice describes technical and organisational security measures but does not guarantee complete security, so organizations handling sensitive data should weigh that limitation in their assessment.

Pricing

Certopus uses a freemium model, with paid plans starting at $24.99/mo (annual). Free Starter costs 0.00 USD per free, billed $0, and includes 250 free credentials, a two-event limit, one limited seat, LinkedIn integration for certifications, and bulk certificate and badge issuance. It is a practical way for an individual or small team to explore credentialing, but the seat and event ceilings leave little room for multiple programs or collaborators.

Standard is among the tiers with tamper-proof certificates and secure data storage; paid access starts at $24.99/mo (annual). Professional has custom pricing and is billed annually. It includes 250 credentials per year, complete white-labelling, custom SMTP and sender email, advanced APIs and automation, and unlimited events and seats. That makes it a better fit for an organization prioritizing branded delivery and workflow control, though the annual credential allowance is modest for high-volume issuance.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited certificate volume, SSO and SAML authentication, 24/7 dedicated support, an on-premise deployment option, compliance and audit logs, custom integrations, and custom onboarding. It is the tier for organizations that need scale, deployment control, and enterprise identity features.

Platforms

Certopus is available on web and as an API, with a self-hosted option. That breadth can suit teams that want a hosted interface, programmatic issuance, or on-premise deployment, though on-premise deployment is an Enterprise option.

Who it's for

Certopus is a strong fit for education and training organizations, event operators, and businesses that issue credentials repeatedly and want branded delivery, analytics, or automated workflows. Free Starter is most suitable for individuals and small teams discovering credentialing. Organizations with many concurrent programs, high annual volume, or formal deployment and authentication requirements should assess Professional or Enterprise instead.

Pros and cons

Pros: Bulk personalized PDF creation and email delivery support repeatable issuance at scale.
Pros: White-labelling, public verification, expiry management, and standards compatibility cover important parts of a branded credential lifecycle.
Pros: REST API, webhooks, and a broad set of listed integrations offer several paths to automation.
Cons: Free Starter limits users to two events and one limited seat, which can hamper even a small multi-program team.
Cons: Professional includes only 250 credentials per year, so frequent issuers may need a higher-volume tier.
Cons: Professional and Enterprise use custom pricing, making cost comparison less direct.

Verdict

Choose Certopus if your organization needs branded, verifiable credentials with bulk delivery and automation across web, API, or self-hosted workflows. Its strongest case is the combination of design, issuance, tracking, and integration options. Look elsewhere if you need predictable published pricing, more than 250 annual credentials at the Professional level, or a free plan without strict event and seat caps.
