Overview

Cegid Retail is a global point-of-sale and unified commerce platform built for specialty retailers. Its focus is coordinating customer data, inventory, sales, store operations and team communications across local and worldwide channels, rather than handling a single checkout function in isolation. The stated platform coverage includes Android, iOS, Windows, web, API and self-hosted environments.

Centralized stock management gives retailers a real-time view of inventory across locations. Mobile dashboards let retail teams follow performance and key performance indicators, while the Store Excellence offering brings operational tasks and communications into a shared workflow. Cegid also describes an AI-enhanced app for retail operations and task management, though the available details do not specify particular AI functions.

The platform connects store activity with customer-facing commerce. Gift cards, vouchers, coupons and loyalty programmes can integrate with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. A Cegid case study describes its mPOS integration with Shopify as supporting online product cataloguing and sharing customer, stock and sales information. For payment connectors, Cegid Retail Y2 provides a standard API layer, with connector availability dependent on the payment provider and the scope of use.

Cegid reports that more than 1,000 retailers and more than 85,000 stores globally use the platform. Its product page also reports a 30% increase in sales and an 80% reduction in inventory counting time as tangible gains; these are reported outcomes, not guarantees for every retailer.

Who it's for

Cegid Retail is aimed at specialty retailers that need to coordinate point-of-sale activity, inventory and store operations across multiple locations and sales channels. Its combination of stock visibility, task management, communications and customer-data coordination is most relevant to teams managing both physical stores and broader omnichannel activity. Organizations considering it should clarify payment-provider compatibility, hardware requirements and deployment fit during the demo process.

Verdict

Cegid Retail brings together the core operational pieces of multi-location specialty retail: POS, inventory, customer information, store tasks and team communications. Its stated mobile dashboards, wallet integrations and payment API layer extend that proposition beyond checkout, while the Shopify mPOS example indicates a path to sharing product, customer, stock and sales information with online commerce. The scale figures and reported sales and inventory-counting gains are notable, but they do not establish what a particular retailer will achieve. With no published pricing or stated trial terms, Cegid Retail is best approached as a platform to assess through a demo, with particular attention to deployment, hardware and payment-provider fit.
