Overview

Pika combines generative tools with editing apps spanning video, images, audio, speech, sound effects, music, and soundtracks. That breadth can simplify work across formats, while a maximum video length of 30 seconds keeps its Video Studio oriented toward short assets rather than extended video. The platform supports cloud and mobile deployment, with web, iOS, and API access.

Key features

Text-to-video, image-to-video, and AI avatars give creators several starting points for video production. Outputs reach 4K resolution, and the wider toolkit includes color grading, video extension, soundtrack creation, image editing, character and image studios, and product shots. The combination suits varied creative tasks, though generation remains tied to credits on paid plans.

Pika names models including Seedance 2.5, Pika 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5, and MiniMax H3. API access and commercial use are supported, but the free tier excludes commercial licensing. Purchased top-up credits work only with Pika Create on pika.art, not the API, MCP, iOS app, or old.pika.art, an important restriction for teams that move between access points.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and has no monthly credits: it is limited to credit packs. It includes all models, two parallel video generations, and two parallel image and audio generations, with no watermark. That is enough to explore the tools, but not a dependable monthly production allowance; commercial licensing, priority queue, and early access to new models are excluded.

Starter costs 10.00 USD per month when billed monthly, or 8.00 USD per month billed annually at $8 per month. Both offer 900 credits per month; Starter provides two parallel video generations and eight parallel image and audio generations. It suits individuals with modest recurring needs, but the monthly credit allowance does not roll over.

Creator costs 35.00 USD per month billed monthly, or 28.00 USD per month billed annually at $28 per month. Its 3,150 monthly credits and capacity for eight parallel video generations and 32 parallel image and audio generations suit heavier individual workflows. Annual billing saves 20% compared with monthly pricing, but also means choosing an annual commitment rather than monthly billing.

Fancy has custom pricing monthly, with 8,550 credits per month and up and unlimited parallel generations; its annual option costs 76.00 USD per month billed annually at $76 per month, for 8,550 credits per month or more and unlimited parallel generations. Enterprise uses custom pricing and custom monthly credits, with all models, unlimited parallel generations, a commercial license, and dedicated support. Its custom solutions are intended for studios and teams that need support at scale.

Purchased top-up credits expire after 365 days. Plans can be canceled anytime and stay active through the current billing period, but payments are non-refundable.

Platforms

Pika is available through web and iOS, and offers API access. Top-up credits do not work through the API or iOS app, so users relying on those routes should not assume purchased packs can cover their work there.

Who it's for

Pika is a good fit for solo creators and teams making short-form creative assets across video, image, and audio, especially when 4K output, API access, or commercial work matters. The free tier works for exploration rather than ongoing output, while larger credit allowances and parallel-generation capacity make paid plans more practical for regular production. Look elsewhere if your work needs videos longer than 30 seconds or if you need free monthly credits.

Pros and cons

Pros: Video, image, and audio generation and editing sit alongside speech, sound effects, music, and soundtrack tools, reducing the need to split those creative workflows across separate apps.
Pros: Text-to-video, image-to-video, AI avatars, and output up to 4K support a range of short-form production needs.
Pros: Free users get all models, no watermark, and parallel generations, making the plan useful for trying the platform before paying.
Cons: Free has no monthly credits and excludes commercial licensing, priority queue, and early model access, so it is not a free production plan for commercial work.
Cons: Monthly plan credits expire at the billing boundary rather than rolling over, and top-up credits expire after 365 days.
Cons: Top-up credits are restricted to Pika Create on pika.art, and payments are non-refundable even though cancellation can happen anytime.

InVideo AI offers a free plan with a weekly quota reset.

Synthesia is worth considering for its free Basic plan, which includes 1,200 credits per month, 10 minutes of video per month, and 25 AI-generated video assets per month.

Steve AI offers a free plan with 1,200 seconds of AI video and 200 credits.

Verdict

Choose Pika if you make short creative assets across multiple media and value its range of generation and editing tools, 4K output, and API access. Its free plan is for trying the platform, not sustained production, and its credit expiration, top-up restrictions, and non-refundable payments deserve attention before committing. For longer videos or work that needs a broader free allowance, another tool may be a better fit.
