Overview

Describe a genre, mood, tempo, and set of instruments, and InsMelo generates a beat to refine. Its listed styles range from rap, hip-hop, and trap to pop, lo-fi, R&B, EDM, piano, and guitar. That breadth makes it useful for sketching across familiar styles, though it is focused on instrumental beats rather than a full songwriting workflow.

Users can adjust BPM, switch instruments, and refine structure, then revise the prompt or extend the result. Previewing before download and separating tracks add meaningful options for shaping a draft. Exports include MP3, WAV, and MIDI, with stems for further editing. InsMelo says exports can be brought into FL Studio, Ableton, or GarageBand, as well as video-editing software.

Key features

Prompt-based generation: Specify genre, mood, tempo, and instruments to get an instrumental starting point. This is a direct route from an idea to a draft, rather than a replacement for detailed production work.
Arrangement and revision: BPM adjustment, instrument changes, structure refinement, prompt revision, and beat extension give users several ways to steer a result beyond the initial generation.
Preview, separation, and export: Preview a beat, separate tracks, and download audio, MIDI, or stems. MIDI and stems are useful when the next step is editing in a DAW; MP3 or WAV also suits audio use in video projects.

Pricing

InsMelo uses a freemium model. Free access is shown as 0.00 USD per free with 3.9 credits; new users receive credits for their first two beats. That is enough to try the workflow, but not a substantial ongoing allowance. Afterward, pay-as-you-go or subscription options are available.

The pricing page names Pro and Ultra, but both have custom pricing. Check the applicable billing terms before committing, particularly if you expect frequent generations. The lower-cost route is the free allowance, but its two-beat welcome allocation is the clear trade-off; a recurring generation quota, subscription term, and renewal terms are not established here.

Commercial use needs particular care. The beat-maker page describes output as royalty-free and suitable for commercial projects, while the user agreement limits Free and Creator plans to personal, non-commercial use and says Pro Studio or higher includes a commercial licence. Confirm that the plan you choose grants the rights your project needs rather than relying on the broader promotional description.

Platforms

InsMelo is available on web, Android, and iOS, with mobile downloads linked through Google Play and the Apple App Store. That cross-platform reach suits users who want to create from a phone as well as a browser, while exported files can continue into supported DAWs or video-editing software.

Who it's for

This is a sensible option for musicians, rappers, songwriters, and content creators who want to turn a written direction into a beat and then adjust or export it. Its prompt-led approach also gives people without a musical background a way to begin. It is less suitable for anyone who needs predictable ongoing costs, a large free generation allowance, or commercial rights on a free plan.

InsMelo says it collects account, usage, and content data and applies technical and organisational security measures; it does not claim any online service is completely secure. Support is available at support@insmelo.com, and the maker links to a Discord community. The user agreement names Adelina Wu Pty Ltd and says the agreement is governed by Australian law.

Pros and cons

Pros
- Several controls—BPM, instrumentation, structure, prompt revision, and extension—allow more refinement than a one-shot prompt.
- MP3, WAV, MIDI, and stem exports offer routes into audio production and video workflows.
- Web, Android, and iOS availability accommodates browser and mobile use.
Cons
- The free allocation covers only the first two beats, so it is a brief trial rather than a dependable free tier.
- Pro and Ultra have custom pricing, making ongoing costs difficult to assess in advance.
- Commercial-use wording differs by plan: Free and Creator are personal and non-commercial under the agreement, while commercial licensing starts at Pro Studio or higher.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, browse AI Beat Makers or AI Song Cover Generators. Among individual options, choose Meloro if its annual song-generation plan with weekly top-ups or its 20-credit monthly plan better fits your budget and usage. Musicful is another freemium option across Android, iOS, web, and API.

Soundverse AI Beat Maker is worth considering if 1,000 free signup tokens or song creation, voice cloning, and stem splitting matter more than InsMelo's prompt-and-arrangement controls. Songen suits iOS and macOS users who want 100 free loop generations per day and one free export, or a paid plan with unlimited generation and up to 250 monthly exports. AIBeatMaker may fit web users who want daily tries, but its free plan limits tracks to online streaming, without downloads or commercial rights.

Beat Shaper is a web alternative with unlimited free generations and MP3 downloads, though its Starter plan is personal and non-commercial and caps song length at 32 MIDI clips. Kuv Music AI Beat Maker may appeal to web users who prefer daily signup credits, but its free plan locks WAV, MIDI, and AI video exports. CedarGrooveNET is a free web and macOS alternative.

Verdict

Choose InsMelo if you want a cross-platform way to turn a written direction into an editable instrumental, especially when MIDI or stems will feed into a larger production or video workflow. Its strongest case is the combination of prompt generation and practical refinement controls. Look elsewhere if you need dependable free volume, upfront subscription costs, or uncomplicated commercial rights: the free allowance is small, paid plans use custom pricing, and commercial licensing depends on plan level.
