Overview

The system combines manufacturing and financial workflows, from scheduling and shop-floor activity through purchasing, shipping, and financial statements. That wide scope can reduce the need to coordinate separate tools across departments; smaller operations looking for one narrow function may be taking on more system than they need.

Global Shop Solutions was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas. It serves customers across more than 25 countries and 30 industries, a footprint consistent with a product aimed at varied manufacturing operations rather than one niche.

Key features

Production and materials

Job scheduling, real-time job status, and bottleneck identification give production teams ways to plan work and see where jobs are held up. Multi-level bills of materials, purchase planning, capacity planning, multi-site planning, and demand inputs support coordination across materials and facilities. This depth is valuable when scheduling and supply decisions affect several parts of a business; it may be unnecessary for a shop that only needs basic production tracking.

Shop-floor data collection, quality, inventory, and shipping extend the system from planning into execution and fulfillment. Having these functions alongside purchasing can help manufacturers keep operational workflows connected rather than split between separate systems.

Finance, AI, and integrations

Financial applications cover job costing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, human resources, and financial statements. AI functions include AP automation, sales-order entry, predictive analytics, AI-driven insights, and automated processes. Together, these broaden the platform beyond manufacturing execution, although the right value of those functions depends on whether a company needs finance and administrative work within the same ERP.

Listed integrations include 1 EDI Source, ADP, Arena, Authorize.net, Box, and Bystronic. Global Shop Solutions displays cost and effort ratings for listed integrations and invites discussion of specific integration requirements, so buyers should assess the implications of their own software connections before committing.

Pricing

Global Shop Solutions ERP: custom pricing, billed upfront plus an ongoing quarterly cost. The plan uses concurrent-user licensing and offers on-premise, cloud, or SaaS deployment. Software updates and support are included in the ongoing concurrent-user cost. That structure makes it important to discuss expected simultaneous use and deployment needs when seeking a quote; there is no free plan or published price to use as a quick cost benchmark.

Training is supported by more than 180 annual training events. Cloud ERP is hosted on virtual servers managed by Global Shop Solutions, with maintenance services. On-premise customers own the software and control their hardware, security, updates, and backups—a meaningful choice for organizations wanting direct operational control, but one that places those responsibilities on the customer.

Platforms

The product supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, and web access, with self-hosted deployment also offered. Cloud hosting includes AWS, backups and disaster recovery, continuous vulnerability monitoring, MFA, firewall controls, and regular infrastructure and penetration testing. The company says its cloud is configured using the NIST cybersecurity framework for compliance with CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 1-2, PCI DSS, and other frameworks.

Who it's for

Global Shop Solutions is a strong candidate for manufacturers that need production, purchasing, inventory, and financial processes in one system, particularly those with capacity or multi-site planning requirements. Its deployment range can accommodate organizations weighing vendor-managed cloud against control of their own hardware and security. It is less compelling for buyers seeking a narrowly focused tool or a straightforward, publicly priced subscription.

Pros and cons

Broad manufacturing and finance coverage: planning, shop-floor, inventory, shipping, job costing, payroll, and financial reporting sit within one platform.
Deployment choice: cloud, SaaS, and on-premise options let companies choose between vendor-managed hosting and direct control.
Cloud security measures: AWS hosting, MFA, monitoring, backups, disaster recovery, and testing address several operational security needs.
Custom pricing: upfront and quarterly costs require a company-specific quote, making early budget comparisons difficult.
On-premise duties: customers choosing that route control and maintain hardware, security, updates, and backups themselves.

Alternatives

Consider Cetec ERP if a free trial and web or self-hosted access are priorities. abas ERP is another paid ERP option, with implementation costs shaped by users, process complexity, migration, functions, and adjustments. Epicor Kinetic may suit buyers who want to choose a platform core, cloud package, concurrent-user licenses, and industry bundles.

Odoo Manufacturing is worth considering when a free starting point matters: its One App Free plan is $0.00 USD per free with unlimited users. Genius ERP is another paid option with pricing that varies by shop size, user count, hosting model, and required features. Carbon may appeal to buyers interested in an open-source ERP, MRP, MES, and QMS community edition under AGPL-3.0, with enterprise features requiring a commercial agreement.

Exact Online offers an accounting-focused alternative with accounting, CRM, bank feeds, and invoicing in its Essentials plan. QAD Adaptive ERP is another paid ERP option.

Verdict

Manufacturers that need connected production planning, materials, and finance—and can justify a custom-priced ERP—should put Global Shop Solutions on their shortlist. Its main advantage is the breadth of workflows and deployment choices; buyers who need a simple price comparison or do not want to manage on-premise infrastructure should look elsewhere or favor vendor-managed hosting.
