Overview

Audienceful is an email marketing platform for sending newsletters and campaigns, organizing subscribers, and building automated journeys. It is a strong fit for teams that want audience tools and branching automation alongside email creation; the main trade-off is that its free tier and lower paid plans cap contacts, collaborators, and journeys.

Key features

Email creation and collaboration

The editor combines AI-assisted email creation with live collaboration, so multiple people can contribute to campaign work. That is useful for shared publishing, but the collaborator caps matter: Free allows one team collaborator and Essentials allows three. Teams needing more can choose Growth, which has unlimited collaborators.

Audience management and publishing

Signup forms, tags, custom fields, segmentation, and personalization support targeted campaigns rather than one-size-fits-all sends. Per-subscriber events and analytics add a contact-level view of activity. Audienceful also supports a newsletter website and custom domain, giving publishers a place to present their newsletter as well as distribute it by email.

Branching automation

Journeys can branch for use cases such as onboarding, trial nurturing, abandoned-cart recovery, lead magnets, and email courses. The range serves both SaaS and ecommerce workflows, but the allowance is one journey on Free and three on Essentials. Growth removes the automation limit, making it the more practical option for teams running several sequences.

Integrations, delivery, and privacy

The integrations directory includes 50 connections, among them Shopify, Stripe, HubSpot, WordPress, Webflow, and Zapier; API access also supports programmatic workflows. Audienceful says Mailgun manages email delivery and that OpenAI spam protection blocks emails likely to trigger spam filters. It says its servers are in the United States and that contact-record personal information is not disclosed to its AI providers, which are restricted from retaining request content or training models on it.

Pricing

Audienceful is freemium, with no free trial. Its paid plans start at 29.00 USD per month when billed yearly, and the Free plan offers a useful way to begin without a subscription.

Plan	Price and terms	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	1,000 contacts, 1 team collaborator, 1 automated journey
Essentials	29.00 USD per month, billed yearly	3,000 contacts, 3 team collaborators, 3 automated journeys
Growth	56.00 USD per month, billed yearly	3,000 contacts, unlimited collaborators, unlimited automations
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Priority support, service-level agreements, data regions, and white-label sending

Free suits a small list and a single sequence, but its 1,000-contact cap and single collaborator leave little room for a growing team. Essentials raises those limits and suits modest publishing or marketing operations; its three journeys may still constrain teams with multiple customer paths. Growth is the clear step up for collaboration and automation, though it retains the same 3,000-contact allowance as Essentials. Larger organizations seeking priority support or data-region options can look to Enterprise, which also includes service-level agreements and white-label sending. Audienceful offers a full refund within 14 days of a paid plan, subject to its acceptable use policy.

Platforms

Audienceful is available on the web and through an API. The API makes it relevant to teams connecting email work with their own applications or workflows.

Who it's for

Audienceful presents itself for SaaS and startups, ecommerce, creators, agencies, small businesses, and nonprofits. It is most compelling for organizations that need campaigns, audience segmentation, and branching journeys in one service. A solo creator or small newsletter can start on Free, while teams with several contributors or automations will need a paid plan. Readers whose main requirement is a larger contact allowance should weigh the 3,000-contact cap on both Essentials and Growth before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Campaigns and audience tools work together: signup forms, segmentation, personalization, and subscriber-level activity support targeted email work.
Branching journeys cover varied workflows: examples span onboarding, trials, ecommerce recovery, lead magnets, and courses.
Useful team and integration options: live collaboration, 50 integrations, and API access support shared and connected workflows.
Migration help lowers switching friction: Audienceful offers free migration help for customers moving from another platform.

Cons

Free is tightly capped: 1,000 contacts, one collaborator, and one journey limit how far a small operation can grow without upgrading.
Paid entry requires annual billing: Essentials is priced at 29.00 USD per month billed yearly, not as a month-to-month commitment.
Growth does not increase the contact ceiling: it offers unlimited collaborators and automations but keeps the 3,000-contact limit of Essentials.
No free trial: prospective paid users instead have a 14-day refund window subject to the acceptable use policy.

Alternatives

For a self-hosted, open-source option, listmonk is free under the AGPLv3 license and requires a PostgreSQL database; choose it when control over self-hosting matters more than using Audienceful’s hosted email platform. Curated is worth comparing for a newsletter-centered workflow, with a free plan for up to 1,500 subscribers and a free trial. Email Fast has a free plan with 2,500 emails per month and unlimited contacts, a different fit for readers prioritizing send allowance over Audienceful’s audience and journey tools.

phpList offers a forever-free plan with 300 messages and unlimited subscribers, which may suit a reader whose priority is subscriber capacity. LetterBucket offers a free plan for up to 1,000 subscribers and a Starter plan at 29.00 USD per month. SendFox has a free plan with 1,000 contacts, 3,000 sends per month, and one automation; its Lifetime plan is priced at 29.00 USD per month billed one time.

beehiiv offers a Launch plan with 2,500 subscribers, unlimited email sends, one team member, and three publications, so it is an alternative to compare for newsletter publishing. Stibee is another newsletter and email option, with plans priced in KRW.

Verdict

Choose Audienceful if your work calls for newsletter and campaign sending, audience management, and branching automation in one platform, especially when several people need to collaborate. Its strongest reason to look elsewhere is the tight contact ceiling: Growth adds collaborators and automations but not contacts beyond 3,000. For a small list, Free is a sensible start; for a growing team, compare the annual commitment and contact limit against your likely needs before upgrading.
