Overview

Protecht is a cloud risk and compliance platform that brings enterprise risk, audit, resilience and related work into one system. It suits organizations that need connected risk processes across teams, particularly those with complex requirements and the resources to configure an annual licensed platform. Its breadth is a strength; separately billed modules and templates make budgeting less straightforward.

Key features

Protecht ERM covers risk assessments, key risk indicators, compliance incidents, vendor and IT risk, business continuity, operational resilience and audit, alongside occupational safety and health solutions. That range can give larger organizations a shared way to manage related disciplines. A team looking only for a basic risk register may find the scope more than it needs.

Organizations can configure forms, workflow rules, reports and dashboards without coding. Connected, structured data underpins analytics intended to reveal trends and areas needing action, while risk reporting can be board-ready. This flexibility helps when standard processes do not fit, but the organization still needs to define its own risk methodology and workflows.

The resilience solution supports service and dependency mapping, impact and tolerance assessments, continuity plans, scenario testing and regulator-ready reporting. Integrations include REST APIs, web services, no-code iPaaS connections, SSO, SCIM identity management and scheduled file imports. A described ServiceNow setup syncs assets through Workato and Protecht ERM APIs. Protecht also says it migrates customer data during initial implementation and supports CSV imports and exports, which can ease transition for teams moving existing records.

Access controls include role-based permissions, two-factor authentication, SSO and individual or bulk user provisioning. Protecht states that it is ISO 27001 certified, SOC 2 assessed, and compliant with EU and UK GDPR. It says customer data is hosted in the customer's region in data centres described as ISO 27001 certified and PCI/DSS compliant. SaaS products operate 24/7 under a standard 99.5% availability SLA. Support includes regional in-house teams, multiple channels and 24/7 help for critical issues; training is offered through Protecht Academy, help articles, videos and step-by-step guidance.

Pricing

Protecht ERM: custom pricing, billed as an annual licence. Fees depend on the number and type of named active users; Marketplace templates and the Operational Resilience module are billed separately. This model can suit organizations that need a tailored deployment, but it gives buyers no fixed per-seat budget from the outset and the separately charged extras can add to the total.

Protecht does not offer a free plan in the stated pricing model. The user-based annual fee also makes it important to account for who qualifies as a named active user when estimating costs. Protecht says its ERM customers range from organizations with two users to major organizations with more than 20,000, suggesting the platform is used at very different scales, though the custom pricing means scale alone does not establish affordability.

Platforms

Protecht is a cloud deployment with web and API access. Its integration options include SSO and identity management, as well as iPaaS, APIs and scheduled imports. The stated platform support does not include a native mobile app.

Who it's for

Protecht is aimed at organizations in financial services, government, education, healthcare and other industries that need more than a standalone risk register. It is a stronger fit for teams coordinating risk, compliance, audit or resilience across departments, especially when configurable workflows and integrations matter. Smaller teams with limited needs or a strict fixed budget may prefer a narrower product with a free or clearly priced entry tier.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad coverage across enterprise risk, compliance, vendor and IT risk, audit, continuity and resilience can consolidate connected work.
Pros: No-code workflow and reporting configuration, plus board-ready reporting, can accommodate organization-specific risk methods.
Pros: API, iPaaS, identity and file-import options support connection to existing systems; Protecht also says it handles initial data migration.
Pros: Regional hosting, access controls, stated compliance credentials and a 99.5% standard availability SLA address important enterprise requirements.
Cons: Annual licensing depends on named active users and their type, so costs require a custom quote rather than a simple published price.
Cons: Marketplace templates and the Operational Resilience module cost extra, complicating comparisons between the base licence and a complete deployment.
Cons: The broad scope and configurable processes may be unnecessary for organizations seeking only a straightforward risk register.

Alternatives

Riskware is worth considering if a paid product with a free trial and Android, iOS, macOS, web and API platforms is a better match.

Eramba offers a free, open Community edition with self-hosted deployment; choose it if those terms matter more than Protecht's cloud platform.

Pirani has a free plan capped at 200 records, five user seats, one heat map report and 2.5 GB of cloud storage, as well as a free trial. It may suit teams whose needs fit those limits and that want a free starting point.

ZenGRC is another paid web and API option, with custom quotes and a flat rate for unlimited users, frameworks and vendors; consider it if those licensing terms fit better.

Riskonnect is a paid option with web, iOS and Android platforms.

AuditBoard (now Optro) offers tailored plans with unlimited stakeholder licenses and Optro Success and Services; it may suit organizations prioritizing those plan terms.

Corporater Operational Risk Management is a paid web, API and self-hosted option with pricing available by request.

EasyRisk has a free-forever plan with unlimited risks, one risk board, one editor and one attachment per risk, plus standard email support. It is a practical alternative for a small team that can work within those limits and wants to avoid a paid licence.

Verdict

Protecht is best for organizations that need a configurable platform spanning risk, compliance, audit and resilience, with integrations and enterprise access controls. Its breadth and adaptable workflows are the main reasons to choose it; custom annual licensing and separately billed templates or resilience features are the main reasons to look elsewhere if predictable costs or a narrower tool matter more.
