Overview

Infor Public Sector brings ERP and community-development workflows together for government agencies, utilities, and K–12 organizations. It is strongest for organizations that need financial controls alongside permitting, inspections, and public-facing service tools. Its broad scope is useful when those operations belong in one system, but may be excessive for buyers seeking only accounting or permitting software.

Key features

Financial and operational controls

The ERP spans financial management, budgeting and planning, procurement, human capital management, predictive analytics, process automation, and disaster preparedness. Restricted-fund tracking, grant management, and audit trails address public-sector oversight needs; multi-entity support and multi-currency accounting suit organizations with more complex structures. Inventory, order, and supplier management extend the system into purchasing and operations.

Manufacturing tools, work-in-progress tracking, production costing, shop-floor reporting, and multiple inventory valuation methods make the product relevant to organizations with production operations as well. Logistics planning and fulfillment management widen that reach. This breadth may consolidate functions, but buyers should ensure the manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities fit their actual workflows rather than pay for unnecessary scope.

Permitting and field work

Community Development and Regulation supports planning, permits, licenses, inspections, and code enforcement. Its public portal lets residents and businesses handle licensing and permitting tasks online and access customer service, which can shift routine transactions out of staff queues.

Infor Field Inspector handles inspections and service requests on Android, Windows, and iOS. Offline work is possible when the app is configured to download selected data to the device; that configuration is a prerequisite, not a guaranteed out-of-the-box mode. Infor ION supports hybrid integration with third-party applications in cloud and on-premises environments, useful for organizations that cannot move every connected system to the cloud at once.

Cloud and security

The ERP is cloud-based on AWS GovCloud and supports compliance with FedRAMP standards. Infor Government Solutions runs securely configured CloudSuites on AWS GovCloud infrastructure managed by US Persons and supports frameworks including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, and ITAR. Infor reports more than 1,700 support experts. Those security and support provisions matter to government buyers, though organizations should still confirm that their own compliance and service requirements are met.

Pricing

Infor Public Sector is paid, with custom pricing on request. There is no public plan price to use for a direct budget comparison, so buyers should ask Infor for a quote aligned to their required modules and deployment needs. No seat limits, trial terms, or renewal terms are stated.

Platforms

The product supports Android, iOS, Windows, web, API, and self-hosted access, while the deployment model is cloud. The mix accommodates mobile field work and integrations, but organizations evaluating self-hosted access should clarify how it fits with the cloud deployment model.

Who it's for

Infor Public Sector is a better fit for public agencies, utilities, and K–12 organizations that want finance, procurement, reporting, permitting, and inspections under a broad administrative umbrella. Its grant and restricted-fund controls and public portal are particularly relevant to organizations balancing internal accounting with resident-facing services. Smaller organizations looking for a single narrow function may find the overall scope difficult to justify.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad ERP and public-sector workflows combine financial controls, procurement, permits, inspections, and online public services.
Pros: Restricted-fund tracking, grant management, audit trails, and support for government security frameworks address specific public-sector needs.
Pros: Mobile inspection work can continue offline when selected data is configured for device storage.
Cons: Custom pricing makes budgeting and price comparison harder before engaging Infor.
Cons: Offline use requires configuration, and buyers should account for that setup before relying on field work without connectivity.
Cons: Its ERP, permitting, and production capabilities may be more system than a buyer seeking only accounting or licensing needs.

Verdict

Choose Infor Public Sector if your government, utility, or K–12 organization needs a broad cloud ERP alongside permitting, inspection, and public-service workflows. Its strongest case is the combination of public-sector financial controls with community-development functions. Look elsewhere if you need only one narrow application or cannot proceed without a transparent price before engaging a vendor.
