Overview

Cover Letter Copilot turns a resume or experience details and a job description into a tailored cover letter, which makes it most useful to job seekers who want a focused drafting tool rather than a broader job-search suite. Its free plan is a practical starting point, but the one-letter daily limit and paid-only saving features matter if you apply often.

Key features

Users can upload a PDF resume, including a scanned document supported through OCR, or enter experience details directly. The tool combines that input with a job description to draft a letter; the input fields allow up to 20,000 characters for a resume or experience and 8,000 for a job description. The maker says most letters are generated in under 60 seconds. That speed may suit a high-volume application routine, though a generated draft still needs review and editing.

A rich text editor supports edits and regeneration, and letters can be downloaded as PDFs. The maker says the formatting avoids tables and graphics and that PDF exports are ATS-friendly. That is a useful constraint for applicants prioritizing straightforward formatting, rather than design-heavy documents. The tool provides ATS guidance, but its described output is a cover letter, not a resume builder.

Free users get one unblurred letter per day. Additional same-day letters are blurred and cannot be copied or downloaded, so the cap is more restrictive than a simple limit on generating polished files. Paid plans offer unlimited access and advanced customization; GPT-5.2 is available to Elite subscribers. Active Seeker and Elite Navigator subscribers can save multiple resumes for reuse, while only Elite Navigator can save and organize multiple letters. Free and Active Seeker users should download PDFs to keep their letters.

The privacy policy says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, may be processed by OpenAI, and is not sold, rented, or traded for third-party marketing. OpenAI handles content generation; Stripe handles payments, with Google Analytics and email services also used. Technical issues can be sent to ben@coverlettercopilot.ai.

Pricing

Cover Letter Copilot uses a freemium model. The Free tier and Free plan are both 0.00 USD per free, with one unblurred cover letter per day; additional same-day letters are blurred, and the Free plan specifies that they cannot be copied or downloaded. This works for occasional applications, but applicants preparing several letters in one day will hit a meaningful barrier.

Paid plans provide unlimited access, with GPT-5.2 and advanced customization reserved for paid subscribers; GPT-5.2 is specifically an Elite feature. Active Seeker and Elite Navigator include saving multiple resumes for reuse, but organizing multiple cover letters is exclusive to Elite Navigator. That makes Elite the relevant option for applicants managing a reusable library of letters. Paid-plan prices and terms are custom pricing.

Platforms

Cover Letter Copilot is a web tool. PDF is its stated export format, so it suits applicants comfortable drafting in a browser and downloading finished letters.

Who it's for

Choose it if you want to turn your resume and a specific job description into an editable, PDF-ready letter, especially when clean, ATS-oriented formatting is a priority. The free plan suits occasional use; regular applicants are better served by a paid plan if unlimited access or saved resumes are important. Look elsewhere if you need a mobile app, DOCX export, or broad job-application tracking: those are not part of the described product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Resume upload with OCR and direct experience entry give applicants two ways to supply background for tailored drafts.
Pros: Editing, regeneration, and PDF export keep drafting and final output in one web tool.
Pros: The stated clean, ATS-friendly formatting avoids tables and graphics that can complicate document parsing.
Cons: The free plan allows just one unblurred letter per day; extra same-day letters cannot be copied or downloaded.
Cons: Saving and organizing letters requires Elite Navigator, while Free and Active Seeker users must download PDFs to retain them.
Cons: PDF is the stated export format, limiting its fit for applicants who need editable DOCX files.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse AI Cover Letter Generators or Cover Letter Software.

Kickresume is an option if you also want resume templates and mobile apps alongside matching cover letter templates.
Cover Letter Tailor offers two free letters per day, tone options, and plain-text copying; its Unlimited plan is 7.00 USD per month.
OphyAI may fit applicants who want an application tracker and are willing to use a one-time five-credit free plan with a partial cover-letter preview.
Rezi is an alternative for applicants who want resume tools and an iOS app as well as web access and an extension.

Verdict

Cover Letter Copilot is a strong match for job seekers who want a focused, editable cover-letter draft from their resume and a specific job description, with clean PDF output. Its main draw is the end-to-end drafting flow, including resume OCR and regeneration; its main drawback is that free use is tightly capped and useful letter organization sits behind Elite Navigator. Choose it for targeted letter writing, but look elsewhere if you need DOCX files, mobile access, or a wider application-management toolkit.
