Overview

Aluo is a web-based workspace for making and preparing ecommerce product images. It suits online sellers who need more than a background cutout but lack a studio or full-time designer. Its appeal is the combination of generation, editing and batch tools; the main constraint is that AI work depends on credits.

Key features

Aluo can remove or replace backgrounds, generate product photos from text prompts or reference images, and edit images with AI. Product-scene templates provide a way to create more composed visuals from product imagery. That mix is useful when a seller needs both new scenes and routine image cleanup, rather than a single-purpose removal tool.

The canvas editor supports layers, typography, shadows, brand assets, templates, precise masking, color grading and instant preview. Those controls let users refine an image after generation and apply a more consistent visual treatment. They may be more than necessary for sellers who only need occasional cutouts.

Batch processing covers resizing, enhancement, compression, watermarking, format conversion, rotation, lighting adjustments, filters and background removal. This is the stronger fit for catalog work: recurring operations can be applied across multiple images rather than handled one file at a time. JPG, PNG, WebP and other common ecommerce formats are supported. Watermark-free export and HD export at 2x, 4x and 8x are among the plan features.

AI usage is metered: 2,000 credits are estimated to cover 52–111 generations depending on the model, or 333 background removals at Pro+ rates. The range matters because generation volume varies by model, so a predictable monthly workload is easier to budget than mixed or exploratory use. Aluo says prompts and images are sent to model endpoints during inference, are not persisted, and are not used for model training. Uploaded images are processed in the browser by default and are not permanently stored on its servers; generated outputs may be temporarily cached unless saved.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, requires no credit card and includes 5 one-time credits. That is enough for a small initial try, not sustained production. The paid monthly subscriptions are:

PLUS: 9.90 USD per month for 2,000 credits/month, suited to lighter recurring work.
PRO: 19.90 USD per month for 5,000 credits/month, a larger allowance for sellers with a steadier image workload.
MAX: 39.90 USD per month for 12,000 credits/month, the largest stated monthly allowance for heavier use.

Credit packs offer a different cadence: Small Pack is 3.00 USD per month for 500 credits with 12 months validity; Standard Pack is 12.00 USD per month for 2,400 base credits plus 200 bonus credits, 2,600 total, with 12 months validity; Premium Pack is 22.00 USD per once for 5,000 base credits plus 500 bonus credits, all AI features and instant delivery, with 12 months validity. Packs may suit less regular work than a monthly subscription, but their validity period still matters when estimating how quickly credits will be used. Aluo also offers a free trial.

Platforms

Aluo runs on the web. Aluo says payments are encrypted through Stripe and payment information is not stored on its servers; its database is hosted on Supabase, traffic uses HTTPS/TLS, and it conducts periodic security audits. Support is available by live chat or email, with a stated response within 24 hours.

Who it's for

Aluo is aimed at sellers on Amazon, Shopify, Etsy and independent stores who need a repeatable way to create, refine and process product visuals. Its batch tools and canvas make it a stronger fit for catalog upkeep and multi-step image work than for someone seeking only a quick background removal.

Pros and cons

Pros: Generation, editing and background tools sit alongside batch processing, covering both image creation and routine catalog adjustments.
Pros: Canvas controls include masking, layers and brand assets, allowing more refinement than a one-step image tool.
Cons: The free plan's 5 one-time credits are a limited allowance for anyone evaluating repeated workflows.
Cons: Generation estimates vary substantially by model, so credit budgeting depends on the type of AI work performed.

Alternatives

Choose Pixelcut if mobile access matters: it supports Android and iOS as well as web and API, and its free plan includes limited background removal and upscale with watermark-free export. Cutout.Pro is another option to compare for its broader platform coverage, including desktop and mobile, and a 5.00 USD per month subscription with 80 credits/month. For a web-only alternative, Mokker AI offers 20 photos once on its free plan, with full studio access and all templates. Claid is worth considering when API access is central; it supports API and web and has a free trial with 50 credits and 50 API credits. Photoroom supports web, iOS and Android, with its Pro plan including 8,000 AI credits/month, 1,000 exports/month and up to 50 seats. Shelfgen is a more constrained starting point: its free Starter plan provides 5 AI credits, about 1 MP output, one SKU at a time and watermarked exports. Pincel supports Android, iOS, web and API, and its free Starter plan includes 20 credits and selected AI tools. Phot.AI is another freemium option with web, mobile and API support.

Verdict

Aluo is a strong match for ecommerce sellers who want image generation, detailed editing and batch catalog tools in one web workspace. Its breadth is the main reason to choose it; look elsewhere if you need mobile apps or only a straightforward background cutout. Start with the 5-credit free plan, then match a subscription or 12-month-valid pack to the volume and mix of AI work you expect.
