Overview

Edabit is a web-based practice site built around short interactive programming challenges. It suits learners who want to build problem-solving fluency in familiar languages, especially at a desktop with a physical keyboard. Its large free library and hints make it a practical practice resource, though it is not currently selling new memberships.

Key features

Edabit describes a library of more than 10,000 small programming problems; its problem count is also given as 17,000. That breadth gives learners plenty of material to work through, but the site’s focus is practice through individual challenges rather than a broader course structure.

Challenges cover C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Swift. Hints draw on the challenge, submitted code, and test results without simply providing the answer, which can help learners diagnose an approach while still doing the solving themselves. Solution explanations are also available.

XP reflects challenge difficulty, while levels and solved-challenge totals track progress. These signals can give practice a sense of momentum, though they are measures of activity rather than a substitute for building projects. Edabit’s stated aim is to help learners move from memorizing syntax toward solving problems and making things.

Pricing

Free — 0.00 USD per free. All challenges can be completed for free, so the core practice library does not require a paid plan. Edabit has discontinued membership purchases and is not currently selling new memberships; existing billing details remain available when applicable. It does not offer student-specific or school plans.

That makes Edabit a straightforward choice for individual self-study, but not for a school seeking a dedicated plan. Users with existing payment or refund questions are directed to contact support.

Platforms

Edabit is available on the web and is designed primarily for desktop use. The emphasis on coding with a physical keyboard makes it a weaker fit for learners who expect to complete challenges mainly on a phone or tablet.

Who it's for

Choose Edabit if you want a free place to practice coding through bite-sized problems, use hints when stuck, and keep track of solved challenges across several languages. Look elsewhere if you need a mobile-first experience, a school plan, or a structured path centered on projects rather than challenge practice. The service is for people at least 13 years old.

Pros and cons

Pros: All challenges are free, so learners can use the library without a subscription.
Pros: Contextual hints and solution explanations offer support without reducing every exercise to a provided answer.
Pros: Eight supported languages and progress tracking make it useful for varied practice goals.
Cons: Desktop-oriented coding is less convenient for phone-first learners.
Cons: New memberships are not being sold, and there are no student or school plans.
Cons: Google or GitHub sign-ins cannot change the account email through settings.

Alternatives

CodeSignal is worth considering if you want practice-based learning with personalized skills paths and a skills profile, or need Android and iOS apps alongside web access. CSSBattle is another free web option. Eolymp may suit learners seeking competitions and automatic solution testing alongside programming problems and educational materials. HackerEarth Assessments is aimed at assessment workflows, with a free plan that includes limited test and interview invites and admin seats. AtCoder offers free contest participation and browser-based code execution. beecrowd may suit teaching: its individual academic free plan supports one active subject, up to 20 students, and access to 2,500+ challenges. Codeforces is an option for free, open contest participation. CodingBat is a simpler free browser-based choice focused on Java and Python problems, with an optional account.

Verdict

Edabit is best for learners who want free, repeatable coding practice on a desktop, with hints and progress tracking to keep them moving. Its breadth and no-cost access are the clearest reasons to choose it; its desktop focus and lack of new memberships make it less suitable for mobile-first learning or anyone seeking a paid, school-oriented program.
