Overview

Ellucian PowerCampus Financial Aid is an institutional system for processing financial aid, built on College Board PowerFAIDS and paired with a student portal. It is best suited to small and mid-sized colleges that want staff workflows and student self-service in one financial aid setup.

Its breadth—from application tracking and award packaging to federal data and reporting—makes it a substantial option for campus financial aid operations. Custom pricing means institutions should assess its fit and cost before committing.

Key features

PowerCampus Financial Aid tracks applications and supports early FAFSA submissions using prior-prior-year income information. Staff can maintain student records, calculate budgets, run need analysis, and package awards individually or in batches. That combination can support a full processing workflow, though institutions should evaluate whether its PowerFAIDS-based approach matches their existing practices.

The system supports processing, managing, and disbursing funds, along with loading, processing, adjusting, and receiving federal data. It also handles ISIR and College Board CSSProfile (INAS) data, FISAP reporting, FM Calculation, Pell Schedule updates, and NSLDS transfer monitoring updates. Ellucian also lists PowerCampus support for 1098-T tuition statement reporting, a useful compliance consideration for institutions managing these processes alongside aid.

Staff can generate and record financial aid emails and letters and create customized aid reports. The companion PowerFAIDS Net Partner portal lets students update profiles, accept or decline awards, and check application status, awards, messages, and aid information. These self-service functions can reduce routine status inquiries while giving students access to key award actions.

Ellucian says its cloud services hold ISO 27001:2022 certification and that customer security documentation includes SOC reports. It describes cloud security as a shared responsibility, so institutions remain part of the security picture. The Customer Center provides documentation, assistance, training, case management, and software downloads.

Pricing

PowerCampus Financial Aid is paid software with custom pricing. No public price or plan limits are stated, so institutions should request a quote and clarify costs and terms for their deployment and needs. There is no cheaper published tier to compare against.

Platforms

The product is deployed in the cloud. Ellucian describes PowerCampus as providing web-enabled access on a Microsoft platform; the listed platforms are web and Windows.

Who it's for

PowerCampus is aimed at small to mid-sized colleges and universities looking to automate student-related processes, including financial aid. It suits institutions that need coordinated staff processing, compliance support, and a student portal. Schools seeking a public price or a standalone student-facing tool should compare alternatives before choosing it.

Pros and cons

Broad staff workflow: Application tracking, need analysis, budget calculations, batch and individual packaging, fund disbursement, and federal data handling cover multiple stages of aid administration.
Student self-service: Net Partner lets students view status and aid information and accept or decline awards, bringing useful tasks into a companion portal.
Compliance support: Federal aid processes and reporting updates, along with 1098-T support, address consequential institutional obligations.
Custom pricing: Institutions must request a quote, making costs harder to compare upfront.
Platform scope: Web-enabled access on a Microsoft platform may be less suitable for institutions seeking a broader range of listed platforms.

Verdict

PowerCampus Financial Aid is a strong candidate for small and mid-sized institutions seeking a broad aid-processing workflow with student self-service and compliance support. Its main reason to choose is the combination of staff tools and Net Partner’s student functions; its main reason to look elsewhere is custom pricing that must be assessed before institutions can judge the cost fit.
