Overview

AKOOL is a Palo Alto-based service for generating and adapting visual content. Alongside video and image generation, it offers talking photos, avatar video, face swaps, background changes and video translation. The Model Hub provides access to Seedance, Kling, Wan and other AI video and image models, while the API opens several of the same capabilities to developers.

Custom and interactive avatars and voice cloning widen its appeal for personalized content. The maximum video resolution is 4K, although the free plan caps avatar video at 720p. That distinction matters: AKOOL offers room for higher-resolution work, but not every tier has the same ceiling.

Key features

Creative tools and APIs

AKOOL combines tools for making visuals with tools for altering existing ones. Video translation, background changes and face swaps complement generation, while talking photos and avatars support character-led content. This range is a practical advantage for teams that would otherwise need separate services for these tasks; users seeking just one narrowly defined tool may not need the wider platform.

The API covers face swap, video translation, talking photos, talking avatars, streaming avatars, image generation and content moderation. Documentation, GitHub and Postman are linked for developers. Zapier appears as an integration marked coming soon, so it should not be counted on as a current workflow connection.

Security and moderation

AKOOL says it encrypts data in transit and at rest, uses access controls and authentication, monitors continuously and vets third-party vendors. It lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 42001 and GDPR compliance. Its moderation approach includes multilingual moderation, human review of flagged or complex cases and user reporting tools. These measures are relevant for organizations handling sensitive or public-facing media, though they do not replace a buyer’s own security review.

Pricing

AKOOL uses a freemium model and offers a free plan and free trial. The pricing page displays Starter, Pro, Pro Max and Business at $0 /seat /mo under its Yearly selector; monthly pricing is not available in that view. These displayed figures do not distinguish the tiers by price, so compare their capacity limits rather than assuming a paid-tier cost from them.

Free: Includes 5 GB of storage, avatar video up to 720p and 10 minutes long, five minutes each of free streaming-avatar session and live face swap, and five total text-to-speech uses of up to 1,000 characters each. It is suitable for trying bounded tasks, but the short session allowances and small TTS allotment are restrictive for regular use.
Starter: Allows two concurrent video generations and four image generations, with videos up to 15 minutes. This is the lowest-capacity listed tier for modest workloads.
Pro: Raises capacity to six concurrent video generations and eight image generations, and permits videos up to 30 minutes. It is a better fit for creators with longer outputs or more parallel work.
Pro Max: Supports eight concurrent video and image generations and videos up to 45 minutes. It suits heavier workloads needing longer videos, though image concurrency is unchanged from Pro.
Business: Provides 20 concurrent video generations, 24 image generations and videos up to 60 minutes. Those limits favor teams producing at higher volume or working with longer material.
Enterprise: Uses custom pricing and customized yearly plans, with SSO login, dedicated customer success management, dedicated server resources, customized solutions and enterprise-grade security and privacy. It is the relevant option for organizations needing those services rather than a standard tier.

Credits are monthly on the listed paid tiers; Enterprise credits do not expire. Seat pricing is shown on the four standard tiers, but seat counts and credit quotas are not provided, so teams should confirm those terms before committing.

Platforms

AKOOL is available on the web, macOS, Windows and through an API. That combination accommodates browser-based creative work, desktop access and developer integrations; an Android or iOS app is not among its listed platforms.

Who it's for

AKOOL is strongest for creators and marketing teams combining several kinds of AI-generated or adapted media, especially personalized avatar and video work. Developers can use its APIs to add generation, translation, avatar and moderation functions to products or workflows. The free plan is better for evaluation and small tasks than sustained avatar production, while the higher concurrency and duration limits make the standard tiers more appropriate as workloads grow. Organizations needing SSO or dedicated resources should consider Enterprise.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad set of image, video, avatar, translation and face-swap tools can support varied creative work in one service.
Pros: The API spans generation, avatars, translation and moderation, with developer resources linked for implementation.
Pros: Higher tiers support more concurrent generations and longer videos, up to 60 minutes on Business.
Cons: The free plan limits avatar output to 720p and 10 minutes, with only five minutes each for streaming and live face swap.
Cons: Zapier is marked coming soon, limiting its value for buyers expecting that integration now.
Cons: The displayed $0 /seat /mo figures do not establish paid-tier prices, and the credit quota and seat terms need confirmation.

Verdict

Choose AKOOL if you need a broad toolkit for AI visuals, avatar content and video adaptation, or APIs to bring those capabilities into a product. Its range and scalable generation limits are the main reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if your priority is a clearly priced plan, generous free avatar usage or a face-swap-only tool; the free caps are narrow and the displayed standard-tier prices do not show what paid use will cost.
