Overview

Pave Market Data is a web-based compensation benchmarking product for employers setting pay across roles and markets. It suits companies that can connect their HR systems and want regularly refreshed salary, cash-compensation, and equity benchmarks. Its strongest case is broad, de-identified data; the required HR-platform connection and quote-based Pro pricing are meaningful hurdles.

Key features

Pave collects workforce data daily through persistent connections to HRIS, ATS, and equity management systems, then publishes updated benchmarks monthly. Machine learning maps employee records to Pave’s job architecture before aggregation and de-identification. That cadence and normalization can help teams compare roles using a consistent framework, though monthly publication is not real-time benchmarking.

Benchmarks cover base salary, bonus and variable pay, total cash compensation, and new-hire and ongoing equity across more than 200 job families. Pro extends geographic coverage to more than 55 countries and 90 cities or metros, with global benchmarks, custom peer groups, advanced equity data, and customized reports. Those features are most useful for organizations comparing specialized roles or multiple labor markets.

Pave says users see aggregated, de-identified data rather than competitor-specific compensation. It reports ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 compliance. Access depends on connecting HR platforms, including HRIS, ATS, and EMS systems; supported providers include ADP, BambooHR, Gusto, Rippling, and Workday. The support center offers searchable answers and ticket submission.

Pricing

Market Data Lite: 0.00 USD per free. It provides benchmarks for the overall U.S. market plus one additional market and is intended for startups with 1–200 employees. This is a useful no-cost starting point for eligible startups, but its market scope is narrower than Pro’s global coverage.

Market Data Pro: custom pricing by quote. It includes global benchmarks, advanced reports, and peer groups; Pave also describes advanced equity data and customized reports as Pro features. Pro is aimed at enterprises and all companies are eligible, but a quote-based price makes cost comparison harder before engaging Pave. Both plans require connecting HR platforms to access Market Data.

Platforms

Pave Market Data is available on the web. Its HR-platform connections are a prerequisite, so it is a poor fit for teams unable or unwilling to connect their HRIS, ATS, and equity systems.

Who it's for

Market Data Lite is best suited to startups with 1–200 employees that need U.S. benchmarks and one additional market without a subscription charge. Pro is a better fit for companies seeking global coverage, custom peer groups, advanced equity benchmarks, or customized reports. Teams seeking a standalone salary reference without HR-system connections should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Monthly benchmark updates draw on daily data collection, keeping published comparisons refreshed on a regular schedule.
Pros: Coverage spans more than 200 job families and includes cash compensation and equity, rather than salary alone.
Pros: Lite offers eligible startups a free entry point with U.S. coverage plus one additional market.
Cons: Required HRIS, ATS, and EMS connections create an implementation and data-sharing commitment before access.
Cons: Lite's limited geography may not serve companies hiring across multiple international markets.
Cons: Pro's quote-based pricing makes upfront budget comparison less straightforward.

Alternatives

For compensation benchmarking, Figures is the clearer choice for buyers who want a public annual price: Figures Benchmark costs 4000.00 EUR per year and includes 500,000+ compensation data points, real-time fixed and variable pay, company-profile filters, data-quality indicators, and anonymized GDPR-compliant data. Choose Pave instead if its free Lite tier or Pro’s global benchmarks, peer groups, and equity coverage better match your needs.

Salary.com CompXL is another paid web option, with no free plan and pricing requiring a personalized demo.

Verdict

Pave Market Data is a strong fit for startups eligible for Lite and for larger employers that need broad job-family coverage, monthly refreshes, and Pro’s global and equity benchmarks. Choose it when those benchmarks justify connecting your HR platforms; look elsewhere if that integration requirement is unacceptable or you need a public Pro price before evaluating vendors.
