Overview

Adobe Podcast brings remote recording and post-production together in a browser workflow. Studio records each participant’s audio in their browser and saves it continuously, keeping voices on separate tracks. That gives editors more control over individual speakers than a single mixed recording, particularly when levels or cleanup needs differ.

Studio can import multitrack audio and video without combining the tracks, and users can edit audio or video by deleting text from the transcript. Enhance Speech handles noise and artifacts, adjusts pitch and volume, and normalizes audio. The combination suits interview shows that want recording and cleanup in one service, but Studio’s desktop Chrome requirement can rule it out for contributors using other browsers.

Key features

Recording and transcript editing

Studio records participants separately in their browsers and continuously saves the audio during a session. Editors can also bring in multitrack audio or video and retain separate tracks. Adobe provides a workflow for importing separate participant audio files recorded in Zoom, which makes Studio relevant even when a remote conversation starts elsewhere. Deleting transcript text to edit audio or video offers a direct editing approach, though it depends on a browser-only workflow.

Speech enhancement

Enhance Speech filters noise and artifacts, adjusts pitch and volume, and normalizes audio. That gives creators a cleanup option alongside recording and editing, rather than making enhancement the whole product. It supports recent Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop and mobile, unlike Studio’s narrower compatibility.

Pricing

Adobe Podcast uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes audio-only Enhance Speech, with a 30-minute and 500 MB maximum per file and one hour of enhancement per day. Studio downloads are limited to two projects per day, each up to 30 minutes. Those limits can accommodate occasional short work, but are restrictive for frequent episodes or longer sessions.

Firefly Pro costs 19.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and provides Adobe Podcast Premium access, video support in Enhance Speech, bulk enhancement uploads, unlimited Studio project downloads and downloads of original speaker-separated recordings. It is the more practical choice for regular production or video enhancement, especially when the free download allowance would interrupt a workflow. A 30-day free trial of Premium features is available. Adobe’s feature description refers to Premium access, while the plan is named Firefly Pro; the listed plan terms do not state a seat count.

Platforms

Adobe Podcast is web-based. Studio is supported only in Google Chrome on desktop, while Enhance Speech works in recent Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop and mobile. This split matters: a mobile device or alternate desktop browser may be suitable for enhancement, but not for Studio recording and editing. The service is available worldwide except China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, and the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

Who it's for

Adobe Podcast is best suited to interview-led podcasters who can run Studio in desktop Chrome and want participant tracks kept separate, transcript-based edits and speech cleanup in one browser workflow. Free users with occasional, short audio needs may find the caps workable. Producers handling frequent projects, longer files or video enhancement have a clearer case for Firefly Pro. It is a poor fit when Studio must work in another browser or on mobile.

Pros and cons

Pros

Separate participant recordings. Browser recording and continuous saving preserve individual voices for editing.
Transcript-based edits. Deleting transcript text can edit audio or video, connecting the transcript to the production workflow.
Enhancement across browsers. Recent Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox support on desktop and mobile offers more flexibility than Studio.
Premium removes key workflow caps. Firefly Pro includes unlimited Studio project downloads and bulk enhancement uploads.

Cons

Studio is Chrome-only on desktop. Other desktop browsers and mobile devices cannot run its recording and editing workflow.
Free allowances are narrow. Enhancement stops at one hour per day, and downloads are capped at two projects daily with a 30-minute limit per project.
Free enhancement is audio-only. Video support for Enhance Speech requires Firefly Pro.

Alternatives

Consider Async if its free offer of 10 lifetime AI credits, one hour of media upload to AI chat, up to 720p export and 2 GB storage better matches the work; it also has API, iOS and web platforms. Choose Zencastr when its free Vibecastr plan’s six participants, unlimited recording and downloads, up to 4K video, unlimited track storage and five podcast shows are a better fit. Boomcaster offers a free plan and a Starter plan at 20.00 USD per month with five hours of studio-quality recording and livestreaming.

Iris.fm is another freemium web option, with Android and iOS support; its Starter plan costs 9.00 USD per month and includes two hours of recording. Cleanfeed is a freemium alternative available on web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. Airtape Studio is a freemium web alternative whose free plan includes two recording hours per month and two participants total. For a paid-only option, Alitu has a 38.00 USD per month plan with 10 hours of recording per month under its fair-use policy and 12 hours of transcription per monthly billing period. Hilite is a freemium web alternative.

Verdict

Adobe Podcast is a sound choice for interview producers who want browser recording with separate tracks, transcript-driven editing and speech enhancement in one workflow. Its strongest reason to choose it is that combination; its main reason to look elsewhere is Studio’s desktop Chrome restriction, compounded on the free plan by short file and daily-use caps. Choose Firefly Pro for regular work that needs video enhancement or unlimited project downloads, and choose another tool if Chrome cannot be part of the production setup.
