What WEB-T is

WEB-T is a web-based solution for translating website content and SEO text into more than 24 languages. Developed under the European Commission’s DIGITAL Europe programme, it uses eTranslation by default and can be configured for other translation providers. Language availability depends on the selected provider; access to the eTranslation API is available to EU institutions, public administrations, regional and local authorities, SMEs, universities, NGOs, and DIGITAL Europe projects. Dedicated plugins support WordPress, WooCommerce, Drupal, Joomla, and Magento, while a Universal plugin can connect with other CMS platforms. WEB-T also supports HTML websites, multilingual SEO, a visual translation editor, and translation workflows. Its plugins process data locally on the website, which the service says supports compliance with data protection rules including GDPR. The helpdesk cautions that machine translations can be inaccurate and should be reviewed and edited by a person. The Magento and Universal plugins translate content that is currently rendered, so dynamic items need to be opened. URL slug translation is unsupported, as are multilingual subdomains with the Universal plugin.
