What Toju is
Toju is a free communication app for voice chat, screen sharing, file transfers, and messaging friends. It is available for web, Windows, Linux, and Android, and its home page describes it as being in beta. Toju says calls, files, and other data travel directly between users’ devices rather than through its servers, and that conversations, files, and calls are not stored on those servers. A signal server helps users find one another, and users can operate their own signal server. Voice chat includes HD calls and built-in noise reduction, and is described as low latency. Screen sharing is offered without time limits or quality downgrades; file transfers are described as supporting any size without upload limits or compression. The code is publicly available to read, audit, modify, contribute to, or fork. Toju presents itself as a gaming companion for voice chat, screen sharing, and sharing replays or screenshots. Its free plan includes all features, with no premium tiers. The site says development is funded by community support and donations.
