What Synplant 2 is
Synplant 2 is a synthesizer for sound design, centered on exploring organic textures and changing timbres. Its Genopatch feature analyzes an audio recording and finds synthesizer settings that produce a matching patch. Processing happens on the local computer and does not require an internet connection. The DNA Editor presents envelopes, oscillator types, filters, and other settings graphically. Performance features include MIDI note and velocity variations, layer mode, polyphonic and monophonic operation, portamento, and tempo sync. The instrument includes hundreds of patches, with more available for download after purchase. Synplant 2 runs on macOS and Windows through VST 2.4, VST3, and Audio Unit 2 plug-ins. The Mac release also has a standalone application; Windows requires a host supporting VST 2.4 or VST3. A 21-day trial begins when it first opens in a host sequencer. The one-time purchase costs $149, paid once and includes free support and service updates.
