StyleWriter is a Windows desktop manuscript editor and English grammar and style checker that integrates with Microsoft Word. It flags complex or abstract wording, jargon, wordy phrases, hidden and passive verbs, clichés, and long sentences, then offers sentence-editing advice. Its tools cover style checking, readability, sentence editing, proofreading, and custom user checks. Readability reports include scores and ratings by audience and writing task, plus sentence and style statistics. You can add your own proofreading and editing checks. USA, U.K., and Australian versions are included. StyleWriter installs locally and does not need an internet connection for editing; the maker says StyleWriter 4 neither copies documents nor accesses the internet. It works with current Windows and Word editions but is a Win32 application without native Apple Mac support. For other programs, copy text to the clipboard, check it, and edit manually. There is no free plan; the trial lasts 14 days.
