What Sign BSL is
Sign BSL is a British Sign Language dictionary for searching and comparing words and phrases. Its site lists just over 21,000 sign videos from more than 150 signers, and access is available on the web, Android, and iOS. Users can look up vocabulary, compare sign variations, and practice through the mobile app; featured videos have normal and slow playback controls. A word may have multiple signs because of differences in meaning or regional use. The dictionary is described as serving learners, teachers, and the Deaf community. It includes GCSE Vocabulary and Signature Level 1 and Level 2 sections. Named video sources include ICT Signs, Scottish Sensory Centre, BSL Parlour, SignMedia Enterprise, Deafax, and The Deaf Academy. Word definitions come from WordNet by Princeton University. Users can contact the maker to suggest videos or report mistakes, although the contact page requires JavaScript. Offline access is listed, and the plan provides free unlimited access. The site's About page directs people looking for American Sign Language to SignASL.org.
