Portal Launcher
Portal Launcher is a free, open-source Minecraft launcher for sharing modpacks with friends and syncing their game instances.
What Portal Launcher is
Portal Launcher is a free, open-source Minecraft launcher for sharing modpacks with friends and syncing their game instances. A host can publish updates, and friends’ copies sync mods, configurations, pack icons, and Minecraft or loader version changes before play. Shared packs use Modrinth Shared Instances, so friends can join from the official Modrinth App without installing Portal themselves. A friends panel shows online friends and supports requests, invites, and joining what a friend is playing. The launcher browses Modrinth and CurseForge mods with galleries, versions, changelogs, download counts, and instance compatibility filters. Before mod updates, it saves snapshots for reverting the last update and warns about missing dependencies. It also includes duplicate mod finding, update notifications, live server status, Discord Rich Presence, and imports from other launchers. Portal runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and can read Prism Launcher’s data folder to carry over instances, accounts, and settings. It requires a genuine Minecraft account through Microsoft sign-in; offline or alternative authentication is not offered.
