What mycli is

mycli is a free command-line client for MySQL databases, also compatible with MariaDB, Percona, TiDB, and Apache Doris. It provides context-sensitive SQL completion and multi-line input; when multi-line mode is enabled, statements must end with a semicolon. Fuzzy history search helps locate previous queries, with fzf recommended but not required. Batch and execution output can use the default format, CSV, TSV, or tables. Its default configuration warns before potentially destructive commands such as DROP, DELETE, and TRUNCATE. For TCP/IP connections, the default SSL mode prefers SSL but can fall back to cleartext, and server certificate verification is disabled by default. Passwords can be stored and retrieved through the system keyring, though that option is disabled initially. The project is tested on macOS and Linux and requires Python 3.10 or later. The maker recommends pip, or Homebrew on macOS. Native Windows basics work, but the maker does not support that configuration as software; WSL also has known limitations. A pager such as less is essentially required. Optional LLM support is available through the [all] package option.
