Maroon
Maroon is an immersive laboratory for learning through interactive simulations and experiments.
What Maroon is
Maroon is an immersive laboratory for learning through interactive simulations and experiments. Learners can approach a station and teleport to a room containing its associated content or activity. The simulations are designed to involve students actively in the learning process. Listed experiments cover physics topics such as Coulomb’s Law, Falling Coil, Faraday’s Law, Huygens’ Principle, Point Wave, pendulum, Van de Graaff, and optics; the lab also includes titration and sorting experiments. In the optics activity, users can adjust parameters and see live visual feedback while exploring reflection, refraction, lenses, and fiber optics. Maroon runs in a browser, and downloadable versions are offered for Windows PCs and virtual reality. Developed with Unity software at Graz University of Technology, the project is open source and hosted on GitHub. Students are invited to contribute functionality and learning experiences, including VR content and physics experiments. The project also welcomes issue reports and pull requests. It is free, with web and Windows listed as platforms.
