AccessLint
AccessLint checks accessibility during development, on pull requests, and on live websites.
What AccessLint is
AccessLint checks accessibility during development, on pull requests, and on live websites. Its WCAG engine includes 95 rules and has a stated 53ms median audit across 5,000 real-world sites. Pull-request reviews inspect changed files and leave inline comments with the relevant rule and a suggested correction, but they do not fail builds or block merges. Deploy-triggered scans require Starter or Pro, run asynchronously, and likewise do not synchronously fail builds. Saved user journeys can run daily, with email alerts for new violations or changes against a baseline. The toolkit provides checks for Playwright, Vitest, and Storybook, while pull-request reviews use a GitHub App. Starter and Pro include shareable read-only evidence reports with before-and-after images of affected elements. The free plan covers public-repository pull-request reviews, one daily monitored flow, and violation trends. Starter costs $19 a month, or $190 a year; Pro costs $349 a month, or $3,490 a year. AccessLint notes that automated checks alone cannot make a site compliant. It says routine passing-flow screenshots are deleted after seven days, while screenshots from runs needing attention remain until the customer deletes them.
Good
- Checks apps during development, pull requests, and live-site flows.
- Inline comments identify rules and suggested fixes.
- Supports Playwright, Vitest, and Storybook checks.
- Free plan includes public-repository reviews and one monitored flow.
- Starter and Pro provide shareable evidence reports.
Watch out
- Pull-request reviews do not block merges or fail builds.
- Deploy-triggered scans require Starter or Pro.
- Automated checks do not make a site compliant.
- Attention-needed screenshots remain until the customer deletes them.
Who it suits
It suits development teams that want accessibility checks on changed code and saved live-site journeys. It may be useful to teams preparing shareable evidence, provided they understand that automated checks do not establish compliance on their own.
Verdict
AccessLint provides checks across code changes and monitored user journeys, with reports on paid plans. Teams should account for its non-blocking scans and treat it as one part of an accessibility process, not a compliance guarantee.
