A-Packets
A-Packets analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG captures for incident response, forensics, and protocol inspection.
What A-Packets is
A-Packets analyzes PCAP and PCAPNG captures for incident response, forensics, and protocol inspection. It reconstructs HTTP sessions, maps communicating hosts and services, reviews wireless artifacts, extracts files, identifies credential exposure, and flags suspicious events. The hosted analyzer accepts native .pcap and .pcapng files generated by tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump. Public analysis is free without signup, accepts files up to 25 MB, and produces a public result page, so it is intended only for captures that can be shared. Paid workspace plans provide private reports and a REST API key; subscription analyses have permanent private storage controlled by the account holder, while credit-pack reports are deleted after 30 days. OnPrem supports customer-controlled storage and Docker Compose, Kubernetes with Helm, or air-gapped deployment. Its scope is case-by-case capture analysis; it does not decrypt TLS payloads, capture continuously, or alert.
Good
- Analyzes native PCAP and PCAPNG captures.
- Reconstructs HTTP sessions and maps hosts and services.
- Free public analysis requires no signup.
- Workspace plans include private reports and a REST API key.
- OnPrem supports air-gapped deployment.
Watch out
- Public analysis creates a public result page.
- Credit-pack reports are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- OnPrem does not decrypt TLS payloads or capture continuously.
- OnPrem does not provide alerts.
Who it suits
It suits SOC, DFIR, incident response, network security, network operations, MSSP, integration, and forensic teams analyzing packet captures. OnPrem may fit teams that need capture and report storage in customer-controlled infrastructure.
Verdict
A-Packets offers packet-capture analysis through a hosted service and an OnPrem option. Choose public analysis only for shareable captures, and note that OnPrem is case-by-case analysis rather than continuous capture or alerting.
