Courtesy of some making rounds, the Huawei-Leica partnership is coming to an end and the Huawei P50 series might be the last product of this partnership. Because of this, Leica is looking at a list of potential partners right which includes Xiaomi.
Currently, all major smartphone brands in the Android ecosystem are pairing up with name camera and optics brands to fine-tune the camera performance on their smartphones. In this setting, Leica was the most sought-after brand due to the performance bump that Huawei’s smartphones got in the optics department post this partnership.
Just like Zeiss, which is already in partnership with multiple brands at the same time, we could see Leica trying something similar. As per the leaks, the execs at Leica are considering partnering with Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor. In a similar development, Samsung is also looking to partner with Olympus and we could see the fruits of this partnership next year with the Galaxy s22 series.
For now, there is no concrete statement from either Xiaomi or Leica on this matter but given the number of leaks that have poured in, we should see them announce something of this sort soon.
