Overview

Voicenotes is a meeting recorder and AI note service for people who want conversations turned into searchable records and follow-up work. It suits frequent meeting-goers who need more than a transcript, while its free plan makes occasional use possible. Its strongest case is the combination of capture, summaries, and action items; its main trade-off is that the free tier limits transcription and history.

It can record online and in-person meetings, and is designed to work with meeting apps without a bot joining the call. Beyond meetings, Ask AI answers questions using information in your conversations. Transcription supports 100+ languages; the FAQ names English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, and 60+ others.

Key features

Meeting capture and follow-up

Voicenotes turns recordings into transcripts, summaries, action items, and next steps. That makes it more useful for people who need to act on a meeting than a recorder that stops at audio or text. The no-bot approach is a practical fit for online calls where adding a participant is undesirable, while support for in-person recording broadens its use beyond video meetings.

Conversation search and integrations

Ask AI can answer questions about conversation content, giving users a way to retrieve information without manually scanning notes. Integrations include Glean, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddle, MCP, Zapier, webhooks, Readwise, Notion, Obsidian, Todoist, and Things 3. Voicenotes MCP lets connected AI tools search notes, browse by date or tags, retrieve transcripts, and create notes; authentication uses browser OAuth.

Security and administration

Voicenotes says it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, encrypts data, and does not use recordings or transcripts to train AI models. Enterprise adds SSO and SCIM provisioning, consent capture and tracking, and organization-wide sharing controls. Those controls matter to teams managing access and consent, but they are not a substitute for evaluating whether the service fits an organization’s own requirements.

Pricing

Voicenotes is freemium, with a 3-day trial and paid plans from $9/user/mo. The Basic plan is free and includes unlimited recordings, 100 weekly transcription minutes, 30-day history, and 100+ languages. It is a useful way to try the recording workflow, but the transcription quota and short history make it less suitable as a lasting archive or for heavy meeting schedules.

Pro costs 9.00 USD per month and includes unlimited recordings and transcription minutes, unlimited history, unlimited audio imports and storage, and advanced integrations. It is the natural fit for individuals who regularly record meetings or import audio and want fewer usage constraints. Enterprise costs 24.00 USD per month and adds SSO and SCIM, consent management, admin sharing controls, custom CRM and dialer integrations, a dedicated success manager, and priority support SLAs. Teams needing those governance and support features are its clearest audience; teams that do not need them may find Pro sufficient. Pricing directs users to email support.

Platforms

Voicenotes is available on web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and as a Chrome extension. The site also lists Watch and Wear OS availability. This broad device range helps users keep the same service across desktop and mobile, though the clearest use case remains recording and working with conversation notes.

Who it's for

Voicenotes is best for people with recurring meetings who want a transcript plus concise summaries and concrete follow-ups, especially if they expect to search across past conversations or connect notes to other services. The free tier can suit light use within its weekly minutes and 30-day history. Those who need unrestricted transcription and a persistent archive have a stronger case for Pro; organizations needing consent and access controls should consider Enterprise. It is a weaker fit for someone who only wants brief voice memos and does not need meeting-oriented outputs.

Pros and cons

Pros: Meeting recordings can become transcripts, summaries, action items, and next steps, reducing the gap between capturing a conversation and acting on it.
Pros: The free plan allows unlimited recordings, so its constraint is transcription minutes and history rather than the number of sessions.
Pros: Ask AI, broad integrations, and MCP search and note creation make conversation content more accessible across connected tools.
Pros: The service states that it encrypts data, meets SOC 2 Type II and GDPR requirements, and excludes recordings and transcripts from AI training.
Cons: Basic’s 100 weekly transcription minutes and 30-day history may not stretch far for frequent meetings or long-term reference.
Cons: The 3-day trial is brief for evaluating a workflow that may depend on a team’s meeting cadence and integrations.
Cons: Enterprise’s added administrative controls are likely unnecessary for individuals, leaving its higher 24.00 USD per month price hard to justify for solo use.

Alternatives

Cleft is a better fit for iOS and macOS users who want on-device transcription, tags, search, and export; its free plan limits recordings to five minutes and offers three built-in output styles.

Audionotes offers unlimited voice notes on its free plan, but each is limited to one minute; consider it for very short captures rather than Voicenotes’ meeting-focused recordings and follow-ups.

AudioPen may suit users who want transcription and rewriting for short recordings; its free plan caps recordings at three minutes and limits voice-typing sessions.

Memoth offers a guest option with one three-minute recording and full AI transcription, making it a possible choice for a single quick capture rather than ongoing meeting notes.

Memex is free to download on Android and iOS, but its AI features require a configured model service that may incur provider charges.

VoiceJournal has a free plan with ten notes total, two minutes per recording, and basic AI transcription; it may suit occasional short entries, but its free limits are tighter for recurring meetings.

Notabe is an iOS option whose free plan includes five AI summaries per month; choose it when that summary allowance and platform fit your needs.

Murble is another option for iOS and macOS users.

Verdict

Choose Voicenotes if meetings are a regular source of information and you want searchable transcripts alongside summaries and follow-up items, with a free plan that permits unlimited recordings. Look elsewhere if you need only short voice memos, or if Basic’s weekly transcription allowance and 30-day history are too restrictive and Pro’s paid plan is not worthwhile for your use.
