Overview

Waystones connects employee development plans with role paths, skills, and milestones. Teams can use it to map possible job journeys and monitor progress against development goals, while skills-gap analysis helps relate workforce capabilities to business needs. That makes it a focused choice for career planning rather than a complete performance-management suite: several engagement features, including 360 reviews and analytics, rewards, tailored 360 feedback, and an internal job board connection, are marked as coming soon.

Key features

Career paths and AI assistance

The career path builder supports structured routes between roles. On Business and Enterprise, AI career-path assistance can help shape job journeys around goals, milestones, and next steps; Startup does not include that assistance. This distinction matters for small teams weighing the free plan: they can organize paths, but must move to a paid tier for AI support.

Skills and progress

Teams can track skills and proficiencies, identify gaps, and align talent with business goals. The skills taxonomy is custom, allowing an organization to define its own way of categorizing capabilities. Managers can review completed milestones and monitor team achievements in real time, which supports ongoing follow-through rather than leaving development plans as static documents.

Workflows and integrations

Waystones includes task and workflow tracking intended to help move approvals along. Its homepage names Google Workspace, Zapier, Bamboo HR, Okta, and Slack as integrations. Those connections broaden where the platform can fit, while the coming-soon status of several review, rewards, and mobility features makes it a less complete option for teams expecting those functions now.

Pricing

Startup is free at 0.00 USD per free. It allows up to 5 users, 1 team, and 3 career paths, with unlimited roles and 30 days of unlimited access. That is a sensible way for a small group to establish whether the path and tracking approach fits, but the user, team, and path caps constrain ongoing use as adoption grows, and AI Career Path Assistance is not included.

Business costs 10.00 USD per month, billed at $10 per seat /mo. It supports up to 100 users, 10 teams, unlimited roles, unlimited career paths, and AI Career Path Assistance. This is the practical tier for growing teams that need AI support and more room than Startup allows, though the 100-user cap remains a boundary.

Enterprise costs 12.00 USD per month, billed at $12 per seat /mo. It removes the user limit and adds unlimited organization teams, team and organization analytics, regional salaries, B-Corp Certification Assistance, and a rewards and gratification system alongside AI assistance and unlimited roles. It is aimed at organizations that need broad deployment and these additional capabilities; teams that only need a modest number of paths may not need to pay for the expanded scale.

The homepage also offers a 30-day trial with no signup or credit card required. A demo request form, phone number, and email contact are provided for organizations seeking a closer look.

Platforms

Waystones is available on the web, making it a fit for teams working through a browser. No mobile or desktop app platform is part of its stated platform support.

Who it's for

The product is designed for HR managers, team leaders, business executives, and IT managers. It is strongest for organizations that want to formalize career routes, connect skills to business goals, and keep managers involved in milestone progress. It is less suitable for buyers seeking a fully rounded review and rewards environment immediately, given the features still marked as coming soon.

Pros and cons

Pros: Career paths, tailored development plans, skills-gap analysis, and progress monitoring sit together, helping teams connect planning with follow-through.
Pros: Startup is free for up to 5 users and includes unlimited roles, offering a low-commitment entry point for a small team.
Pros: Business and Enterprise provide AI career-path assistance, while Enterprise adds unlimited users and organization-level capabilities.
Cons: Startup is capped at 5 users, 1 team, and 3 career paths, and lacks the AI assistance available in paid plans.
Cons: 360 reviews and analytics, rewards, tailored feedback, and internal job board connection are still coming soon, limiting its current scope for broader employee programs.
Cons: The platform is web-only, so it does not suit teams requiring a stated native mobile app.

Alternatives

For a broader category comparison, browse Career Pathing Software. Choose Cegid Retail if you need Android, iOS, Windows, API, or self-hosted platform support; its pricing is custom. Eightfold Talent Intelligence is another paid option with Android, iOS, API, and web support. Consider 15Five if you want its listed Kona Meeting Assistant plan at 24.00 USD per year, billed $24.00 per employee per year (= $2.00 per employee/month, billed annually), with meeting notes, performance snapshots, summaries, and act.

C² Career Pathing Tool is a web-based paid alternative with pricing available by demo request. ClayHR may suit teams looking for a broader employee platform, with a listed Professional plan at 7.00 USD per month billed per Employee / Month and features including employee records, a dynamic form builder, PTO, timesheets, workflows, and onboarding. Gloat Career Pathing and Groniva HRMS Career Pathing are other paid web options. Oracle Recruiting is a paid web, iOS, and Android alternative; its Fusion Recruiting Cloud Service is 8.00 USD per month, with a 500 hosted-employee minimum and a standard three-year subscription.

Verdict

Waystones is a strong fit for HR and management teams that want structured career paths tied to skills and measurable progress, with paid plans adding AI guidance and room to scale. The free tier makes a small-team start possible, but the caps and the product’s still-developing review and rewards features are good reasons to look elsewhere if you need broader employee-management coverage today.
