Overview

StudyGlen accepts PDFs, text, images, handwritten notes, YouTube links, and Anki decks, then turns them into study activities. That flexibility suits learners working from mixed materials; quiz inputs are capped at 20MB for PDFs and 20,000 characters for text, while YouTube generation uses captions and images are processed with OCR. Quiz generation supports 41 content languages with localized AI explanations, and the interface supports 13 languages.

There is a low-friction way to assess quiz generation: five questions can be generated without an account or credit card. The free plan is less generous for continued use, allowing one quiz or flashcard per day, two question regenerations daily, and a single lifetime comic.

Key features

Flashcards and Anki

Cards support basic and cloze deletion formats, with FSRS spaced repetition and smart, sequential, and shuffle study modes. Anki imports accept .apkg, .colpkg, .txt, .csv, and .tsv files and preserve SM-2 scheduling. That preservation is a meaningful advantage for existing Anki users who want to move or reuse decks without losing their review schedule. Free users are limited to five imports per day, so large migrations may take time.

Comics, live quizzes, and exports

The comic generator creates scripts, characters, dialogue, and scenes in cartoon, anime, watercolor, realistic, or sketch styles. Its one-comic lifetime trial makes the feature easy to sample, but ongoing comic creation requires paid comic credits. Live quiz competitions offer unlimited hosting, real-time leaderboards, and require no credits, making them the least quota-bound option for teachers or group study.

Quizzes can be exported without charge or limits as PDF, Word, CSV, Anki (.apkg), or QTI, with direct import into Canvas and Moodle. That export range is particularly useful for educators who need to reuse generated material in an LMS. Mobile apps for iOS and Android support quizzes and flashcards, offline review, and later syncing of ratings.

StudyGlen says it is GDPR compliant and removes uploaded PDFs, text, and images from active systems after processing, though backups may persist for up to 30 days. It says it uses HTTPS, encryption, access controls, and secure authentication.

Pricing

StudyGlen combines a capped free plan with one-time credit packs rather than a recurring subscription. One study credit generates one complete quiz or flashcard deck; credits do not expire. Every paid pack includes five regenerations per day, while the free plan allows two.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best suited to
Free Forever	0.00 USD per free	One quiz or flashcard per day, one lifetime comic, two question regenerations per day	Occasional use and trying the core formats
Mini Pack	4.99 USD per once	10 study credits, five regenerations per day	Infrequent users who want more than the daily free allowance
Starter Pack	9.99 USD per once	30 study credits, one comic credit, five regenerations per day	Learners wanting a modest supply of study generation and a comic
Plus Pack	24.99 USD per once	100 study credits, three comic credits, five regenerations per day	Regular users who expect to create both study sets and comics
Pro Pack	49.99 USD per once	300 study credits, five comic credits, five regenerations per day	Frequent creators seeking the largest stated credit pool

These are one-time payments, so there is no recurring renewal to manage and unused credits remain available. The cheaper packs provide fewer study credits, and Mini includes no comic credits; the free plan remains constrained to one daily quiz or flashcard. Quiz exports remain free and unlimited, and live hosting does not consume credits.

Platforms

StudyGlen is available on the web, Android, and iOS. The mobile apps support offline review of quizzes and flashcards and sync ratings when connectivity returns, which helps learners keep reviewing away from a connection. The interface supports 13 languages.

Who it's for

Students preparing for exams, including medical and nursing students, and language learners can turn varied source material into active practice. Teachers can benefit from live competitions and exports to Canvas or Moodle. Anki users have a particular reason to consider it because imports preserve SM-2 scheduling. It is a weaker fit for anyone who needs a generous free daily generation allowance or relies on comic creation but does not want to buy comic credits.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad inputs include documents, images, handwritten notes, YouTube links, and Anki decks, so learners can work from more than typed text.
Pros: Anki imports preserve SM-2 scheduling, and exports include Anki and LMS-oriented QTI alongside common document formats.
Pros: Live quiz hosting is unlimited and credit-free, while paid study credits never expire.
Cons: Free users get only one quiz or flashcard a day and one lifetime comic, which makes sustained daily use difficult without buying credits.
Cons: The free five-import daily cap can slow a bulk Anki migration.
Cons: Comic use beyond the single lifetime trial requires a pack that includes comic credits.

Verdict

StudyGlen is a strong choice for students and educators who want to turn mixed materials into several study formats, especially if Anki scheduling preservation or LMS exports matter. Its one-time packs avoid recurring charges, and the free tier is useful for sampling. Look elsewhere if you need a more generous free daily allowance or want to create comics regularly without buying dedicated credits.
