Overview

TaxBandits is a business tax-form e-filing service for owners, tax professionals, and service providers that need to handle employment and information returns. Its mix of bulk import, filing checks, and integrations is most useful when preparing forms at scale; payroll subscriptions do not include annual W-2 or 1099 filing.

Key features

Form intake and checks

CSV templates support bulk form-data uploads, while completed W-9 PDFs can be uploaded for AI extraction of recipient information. IRS business-rule and schema checks, TIN matching, and USPS address validation can catch data problems before filing. That combination suits organizations processing many recipients, though validation does not remove the need to review filings and correct underlying records.

Integrations and API

TaxBandits connects with Sage Intacct, Karbon, QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, and Zapier. Its API supports e-filing workflows for W-9, 1099, W-2, TIN matching, and more, giving service providers a route to build filing into existing systems rather than manage every workflow manually.

Security and mobile collection

TaxBandits says it is SOC 2 certified and encrypts client data in storage and transit; accounts can enable authenticator-app two-factor authentication. The free TaxBandits Companion app for iOS and Android supports W-9/W-8 management, with unlimited free collection. It is a focused collection tool, not a substitute for the broader filing service.

Pricing

Payroll options start with Basic Payroll at $19.00 USD per month, with unlimited payroll runs and pay stubs and a $0 employee fee. Plus Payroll is $29.00 USD per month and includes Basic. Both offer a 30-day free trial, but neither includes annual W-2 or 1099 filings; those cost extra. These plans fit businesses seeking payroll runs without per-employee fees, but the separate year-end filing charges matter when budgeting.

Basic at $19.00 USD per month and Plus at $29.00 USD per month are also shown with unlimited pay runs and a $0 employee fee. The plan descriptions do not spell out differences between these options, so they are harder to compare against the payroll plans. For 1099 and W-2 federal e-filing, pricing is volume-based: the first 10 forms cost $2.75 per form, with lower per-form rates at higher volumes. Estimate annual filing costs separately from payroll subscription costs.

Platforms

TaxBandits is available on web, iOS, Android, through an API, and as an extension. The Companion app is available on iOS and Android for W-9/W-8 management.

Who it's for

TaxBandits is a strong fit for businesses, tax professionals, and service providers handling recurring employment or information returns, especially when CSV imports, validation, accounting integrations, or API workflows can reduce repetitive work. It is less suitable for buyers who need year-end forms bundled into payroll at a predictable all-in price.

Pros and cons

Pros: Bulk CSV uploads and AI extraction from W-9 PDFs offer multiple ways to bring recipient data in.
Pros: IRS checks, TIN matching, and address validation address common data-quality issues before filing.
Pros: A broad integration set and API support can connect filing to accounting and service-provider workflows.
Pros: Companion provides unlimited free W-9/W-8 collection on iOS and Android.
Cons: Annual W-2 and 1099 filings incur extra charges on payroll plans, so subscription pricing is not the full year-end cost.
Cons: Federal 1099 and W-2 filing costs depend on form volume, requiring a separate estimate for larger batches.

Verdict

Choose TaxBandits if your business or practice needs a flexible way to collect, validate, and file employment and information returns across connected systems. Its strongest case is the combination of data intake, checks, integrations, and API support. Look elsewhere if bundled year-end forms or a clear all-in payroll cost matters more than that filing workflow.
