Overview

Route Track is a post-purchase tracking platform for online merchants who want branded shipment updates across several customer channels. It suits retailers seeking to keep shoppers informed while creating a path to additional sales during delivery. Its broad carrier network and free Standard plan are appealing, but recommendations require a qualifying commerce platform and a paid plan.

Key features

Branded tracking and shopper updates

Merchants can put their logo, colors, and messaging on tracking pages, giving customers a more consistent experience after checkout. Automated email and SMS updates cover eight touchpoints from order confirmation through delivery; tracking is also available on the web and in the Route app. Delivery estimates are supported. This combination can keep routine status questions out of a merchant’s support queue, though it depends on shoppers receiving and using the updates.

Carrier coverage and integrations

Route connects with more than 1,100 carriers worldwide, including UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS. Integrations cover Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce Cloud, and API environments. Its API supports orders, shipments, tracking, protection, and resolution workflows, making it relevant to merchants with custom integration needs as well as supported commerce platforms.

Recommendations and shopper app

Route can use buyer profiles and order history to personalize product recommendations during tracking, potentially turning a delivery check-in into a sales opportunity. That feature is limited to Shopify and BigCommerce merchants on Pro or Custom plans, so it should not be a deciding assumption for other integrations or the free Standard plan. The separate iOS and Android shopper app adds visual tracking, package protection, returns, and exchanges.

Security and support

Route encrypts merchant and shopper data in transit and at rest, and states that it conducts continuous vulnerability scanning, annual third-party penetration testing, and a public vulnerability disclosure program. It says it is SOC 2 certified and GDPR and CCPA/CPRA compliant. Its Help Center covers package tracking, pricing, and integration troubleshooting.

Pricing

Route uses a freemium model. Standard costs 0.00 USD per month (billed $0/month) and has no monthly or hidden fees. It includes the full Route platform, consumer-funded pricing, and custom configuration. For merchants who want branded tracking, shipment and SMS notifications, delivery estimates, and API access without a subscription fee, that is a strong starting point. However, product recommendations are not included for Standard.

Custom has custom pricing, with flat-fee, volume-based, or consumer-funded options, monthly billing cycles, and API and custom integrations. It is the fit for merchants needing tailored integration or pricing arrangements; those seeking recommendations must also qualify by using Shopify or BigCommerce. No seat or usage quota is stated for either plan, so merchants should confirm that a proposed configuration fits their expected volume before relying on it.

Platforms

The platform supports Android, iOS, web, and API environments. Route’s shopper app is specifically available on iOS and Android, while merchant commerce integrations include Shopify, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce, WooCommerce, and Adobe Commerce Cloud.

Who it's for

Route Track is best suited to online merchants that want branded post-purchase communication across email, SMS, web, and app, especially those shipping through a wide range of carriers. It is less compelling for merchants whose primary goal is personalized product recommendations but who are not on Shopify or BigCommerce, or who do not plan to use Pro or Custom.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 1,100 carrier connections give merchants broad coverage across delivery providers.
Pros: The Standard plan costs 0.00 USD per month and includes the full Route platform with consumer-funded pricing.
Pros: Branded pages plus eight automated email and SMS touchpoints give merchants several ways to keep shoppers informed.
Cons: Personalized recommendations are restricted to Shopify and BigCommerce merchants on Pro or Custom plans.
Cons: Custom pricing leaves merchants needing tailored options without a fixed subscription price to compare upfront.

Alternatives

Order Tracking Software is the broader category directory for comparing tracking products.

Choose CWILL Post-Purchase if you want a freemium, web/API option with a free trial and a defined paid entry point: Order Tracking Essential is 11.00 USD per month for 200 credits. Sendcloud may suit teams focused on parcel handling; its free tier covers up to 20 parcels per month, has no subscription fee, and requires no courier contract. TrackingMore is another freemium web/API option with a free trial and a free Basic plan that includes API and webhook access, though its stated allowance is 0 credits per month.

TrackLogy is worth considering for a time-unlimited free allowance of 20 shipments per month, while ShipSagar offers a lifetime free plan with 50 shipment tracking credits and basic email notifications. Track123 is a stronger fit if a free tier with 50 shipments per month, branded tracking pages, and bulk shipment import matches your needs. ParcelTracking and FreightCake Tracking are also freemium options; ParcelTracking supports web, iOS, and Android, while FreightCake Tracking supports web.

Verdict

Route Track is a strong choice for merchants who want branded, multi-channel shipment updates and broad carrier coverage without a monthly Standard fee. Its central trade-off is that recommendation-led sales depend on both the right commerce platform and a Pro or Custom plan. Choose it for the tracking and communication foundation; look elsewhere if those eligibility limits undermine the feature you value most.
