Overview

Patch My PC automates third-party application packaging, deployment, and updates for managed devices. It suits IT teams already using Microsoft management tools; its central trade-off is a $3,500/year starting commitment for the business product.

Key features

Publisher integrates with ConfigMgr, Intune, and WSUS, while Patch My PC Cloud is a SaaS portal aimed primarily at Intune customers that can also extend ConfigMgr. That makes the platform a practical fit for Microsoft-managed fleets, but less suitable for teams seeking an independent patching workflow.

The curated catalog covers 3,782 products. Patch My PC aims to release updates the same day as vendors, generally between 1:00 and 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. That can reduce routine packaging work, though the timing is a goal, not a guarantee.

Publisher creates packages for x86, x64, and ARM64. Cloud can build custom software packages for ConfigMgr or Intune, and create and publish macOS DMG and PKG applications to Intune for Intel and Apple Silicon. This gives mixed Windows and Mac environments more coverage than a Windows-only updater.

Enterprise subscriptions include unlimited support from in-house engineers, setup assistance, and environment reviews. Patch My PC says it holds ISO 27001:2022 certification and a SOC 2 Type 2 report, and uses encryption, access controls, and security practices embedded in its development lifecycle.

Pricing

Home Updater is free for non-commercial use on 64-bit Windows 10 or later and Windows Server 2016 or later. It gives home users a no-cost option, but is not licensed for business use and does not cover macOS.

Enterprise Plus costs $3.50 per device per year, starts at $3,500/year, and covers up to 1,000 devices at that starting price. It supports Windows and macOS through ConfigMgr, Intune, and WSUS, with basic reporting. This is the lower-cost business tier for organizations that need core deployment and patching without advanced reporting or the higher-tier capabilities.

Enterprise Premium costs $5.00 per device per year, starts at $5,000/year, and covers up to 1,000 devices at that starting price. It includes everything in Plus, along with advanced reporting, CVE visibility, real-time ConfigMgr actions, and device health. Those additions suit teams that need more operational and vulnerability context; smaller deployments should weigh them against the higher minimum spend.

The business trial runs for 30 days and includes all features and supported products. The published starting prices cover up to 1,000 devices; organizations sizing beyond that should confirm pricing for their needs.

Platforms

Business support spans Windows and macOS, with Cloud publishing macOS apps to Intune. Home Updater is limited to supported 64-bit Windows desktop and server systems. The product is also offered through a web-based Cloud portal.

Who it's for

Patch My PC is best for organizations managing Windows and Mac devices through Microsoft tools that want a maintained third-party catalog, custom packaging options, and vendor-timed updates. It is not the right choice for individuals needing a commercial Windows license, or teams that cannot justify the business minimum.

Pros and cons

Pros: Integrations with ConfigMgr, Intune, and WSUS fit established Microsoft environments.
Pros: The 3,782-product catalog, same-day update goal, and custom packaging can reduce recurring application maintenance.
Pros: Premium adds CVE visibility, device health, and real-time ConfigMgr actions for teams that need deeper management.
Cons: The business entry point is $3,500/year, even though pricing is expressed per device.
Cons: The free edition is restricted to non-commercial Windows use, so it cannot serve as a free business deployment option.
Cons: Its Microsoft-centered integrations make it a weaker match for organizations seeking platform-neutral management.

Alternatives

For an open-source software manager rather than a commercial managed-device platform, consider UniGetUI, which is free and supports Linux, macOS, and Windows. Topgrade is another free, open-source option, using a CLI and package-manager installation choices across those platforms.

RuckZuck is freely available for private use on Windows, though its public API allows 5 getsoftwares requests per minute and 20 checkforupdate requests per minute. For Windows software updating with a freemium model, UCheck offers a $12/year Premium plan with scheduled scans, installation of new software and updates, email support, and enterprise use.

AppGeek is a free Windows option with no Pro tier, ads, or bundled offers, and permits use at home or work. IObit Uninstaller instead focuses on Windows app removal, including batch uninstall and automatic leftover cleanup in its free version. Mac users looking for a Mac-focused alternative can consider Version Tracker, which has a free plan. For another alternative, see Avira Phantom VPN Free.

Verdict

Choose Patch My PC if your organization runs Microsoft-managed devices and wants broad third-party packaging and patching backed by deployment integrations and enterprise support. The main reason to look elsewhere is the $3,500/year starting commitment, especially if you need only a personal updater or a standalone tool outside Microsoft management.
