Overview

OpusClip turns long videos into short clips, then helps prepare and publish them for social platforms. It suits creators and marketing teams who want AI-assisted repurposing in one workflow; the free plan is useful for a limited trial run, but its export window and lack of editing make it a poor home for finished work.

Its strongest case is breadth: clipping, captions, reframing, editing and publishing sit alongside an iOS app and workflow integrations. The trade-off is that useful production capacity quickly depends on monthly credits, and multi-person work requires Pro or a custom Business arrangement.

Key features

AI clipping and highlight detection turn long footage into shorter segments; AI captions and support for English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese and more than 20 additional languages broaden its reach. Automatic reframing and social platform presets help adapt clips for different destinations. AI B-Roll, audio enhancement and voice-over add further production options, while transcript-to-post output extends the workflow beyond video.

The AI Producer is aimed at turning raw talking-head footage into publish-ready video. Text-based and timeline editing, plus brand tools, give creators ways to refine results rather than accept the initial cut. That matters on paid plans: the free tier has no editing, so it offers a preview of the clipping workflow, not a complete editing setup.

Pro imports from YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, Zoom, Rumble, Twitch, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Loom, Riverside and StreamYard. API workflow integration with CMS and other tools, Zapier and an MCP connector make it more adaptable for established publishing pipelines. OpusClip also publishes SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR compliance information, with continuous monitoring by Secureframe.

Pricing

The freemium structure makes it possible to try the workflow before paying, but the plans differ substantially in export rights, editing and capacity.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, billed Free forever. It provides 60 credits per month and clips up to 1080p, with auto reframe and AI captions. A watermark, no editing and a three-day export window make this best for occasional evaluation, not a dependable publishing routine.
Starter: 15.00 USD per month, billed $15 billed monthly. Its 150 monthly credits, one brand template and watermark removal suit an individual creator who wants clean exports without the collaboration and social-account capacity of Pro.
Pro: 29.00 USD per month billed monthly, or $174 billed annually ($14.5 USD/mo). It raises the allowance to 300 credits per month and adds two seats, two brand templates, six social account connections and two-month rollover of unused credits. This is the more practical fit for professional creators, marketers and small teams managing recurring output; the annual term lowers the monthly equivalent but commits payment annually.
Business: custom pricing. Priority processing, customized credits, seats and social connections, dedicated storage, API and custom integrations, and enterprise-level security target organizations with tailored workflow needs. It is not a transparent self-serve option.

Credits are the central capacity constraint on Free, Starter and Pro, so the right plan depends on how much source footage a workflow needs to process. Pro's rollover can soften uneven monthly workloads; Free's three-day export limit means useful clips must be saved promptly.

Platforms

OpusClip is available on web, iOS and through an API. The iPhone app requires iOS 16 or newer and supports video uploads, AI clip generation, caption editing and one-tap sharing, making it useful for mobile capture-to-sharing tasks. Help is available through Discord and contact@opus.pro; Pro adds Intercom chat support, while Business adds priority support through a dedicated Slack channel.

Who it's for

Individual creators can start on Starter if watermark-free clips and a modest template allowance are enough. Pro is the more convincing choice for professional creators and marketers who need additional credits, multiple seats, connected social accounts and rollover. Organizations that need custom capacity, storage or API integrations should consider Business.

OpusClip is less suitable for anyone who needs unrestricted free editing or long-term access to free-tier exports. Its free plan can demonstrate clipping and captions, but the watermark and three-day export window make it a short-term evaluation tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: Clipping, captions, reframing, editing and social publishing bring several stages of short-form production into one product.
Pro: Pro's two seats, six social connections and two-month credit rollover support a more regular team workflow than Starter.
Pro: The iOS app handles uploads, clip generation, caption edits and sharing, rather than limiting the product to desktop use.
Con: Free exports carry a watermark, cannot be edited and become unavailable after three days, sharply limiting ongoing use.
Con: Monthly credits cap processing on every self-serve tier, and Starter's 150-credit allowance may not suit high-volume creators.
Con: Business requires a sales conversation for pricing, making budget comparison less straightforward.

Verdict

Choose OpusClip if you regularly turn long videos into social clips and want AI-assisted creation, editing and publishing connected in one workflow. Pro is the best fit for recurring professional or small-team use, thanks to its seats, social connections and credit rollover. Look elsewhere if you need a genuinely usable free editor, more predictable high-volume capacity, or a published Business price.
