Overview

Odoo Manufacturing is production-planning software for manufacturers coordinating bills of materials, purchasing and schedules. It is best suited to teams that need to plan across sites as well as production capacity. Its broad planning coverage is a strength, but the free offer covers only one app and the paid plans’ prices are custom.

Key features

Multi-level bills of materials let teams represent components nested across several levels, a useful fit for products with layered assemblies. Production scheduling, purchase planning and capacity planning bring related production decisions into one planning scope: teams can account for what to make, what to buy and how much capacity production needs.

Multi-site planning extends that scope across locations, which matters to manufacturers coordinating work at more than one site. Demand inputs can come from both supported input types, giving planning more than one way to take demand into account. These capabilities make Odoo a stronger match for connected planning needs than for a buyer seeking only a narrowly focused BOM tool.

Pricing

Odoo uses a freemium model. One App Free costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited users. That removes a per-user charge, but the offer is for one app, so it is not equivalent to access to Odoo’s full app range.

Standard has custom pricing and includes all apps on Odoo Online. It suits organizations that want the broader app set on Odoo’s online service, but the price should be confirmed before comparing it with a fixed-price option. Custom also has custom pricing and includes all apps, with deployment choices across Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and on-premise, plus an external API. It is the more flexible fit for buyers who need those deployment or API options; those choices do not come with a published price.

Platforms

Odoo Manufacturing is available on Android, iOS and the web. Its deployment model is hybrid: the Custom plan names online, Odoo.sh and on-premise options, so organizations can consider more than one hosting arrangement.

Who it's for

Odoo is a good fit for manufacturers whose planning spans multi-level BOMs, purchasing, production schedules, capacity and multiple sites. The unlimited-user free plan may suit a team evaluating a single app, while a business needing the full app suite will need to weigh custom-priced Standard or Custom access. It is less compelling for a buyer who requires a known full-suite price before engaging.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multi-site planning alongside capacity, purchasing and production scheduling supports planning across connected manufacturing needs.
Pro: One App Free costs 0.00 USD per free and allows unlimited users, avoiding a seat cap for that offer.
Con: The free plan is limited to one app, so it does not provide all-app access.
Con: Standard and Custom use custom pricing, making upfront cost comparisons difficult.

Alternatives

For a free option with web, Windows, macOS and Linux platforms, consider Dolibarr. Choose Katana if a permanent free tier with 30 SKUs, unlimited users, integrations and inventory locations better fits your needs.

Epicor Kinetic is a paid alternative with cloud packages, platform-core choices, concurrent-user licenses and industry bundles. Consider Aptean Industrial Manufacturing ERP Traverse Edition if you want a paid option with a free trial and pricing provided on request. MRPeasy is another paid alternative with a free trial and a Starter plan priced at 49.00 USD per month per user.

For other options, browse Material Requirements Planning Software, Food Manufacturing Software, Manufacturing ERP Software, Production Planning Software and Bill of Materials Software. Acumatica Field Service, Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and QAD Adaptive ERP are also alternatives.

Verdict

Choose Odoo Manufacturing if your team needs linked production planning, especially capacity and multi-site planning, and can accept custom pricing for all-app access. Look elsewhere if a transparent full-suite price is essential or if the one-app free offer is too narrow for your operation.
