Pick Obsidian if…

Obsidian suits people who want local, offline notes and a customizable knowledge-work app. Teams can use shared vaults, while Sync and Publish are paid options for syncing or hosting notes.

Pick Org-roam if…

It suits people comfortable with Emacs and Org-mode who want offline, linked plain-text notes. Newcomers to those tools may find the system difficult to approach.
