Overview

Voloco combines mobile vocal recording and processing with a desktop plugin for DAWs. It suits singers and creators who want to build vocal-led tracks on a phone, while its desktop edition is aimed at producers who want vocal processing inside an existing workflow. Its main strength is that it brings tuning, effects, layered recording, and beat licensing together; the free mobile tier is limited to five effects.

Key features

The mobile app offers more than 70 vocal effects, including pitch correction, harmonies, vocoders, and creative treatments. Real-time correction, formant control, and scale or key detection give singers useful control over the sound, but the five-effect free allowance makes the paid tier the route to broader mobile experimentation.

Voloco Studio records up to eight vocal layers, each with independent volume, pan, and effect controls. That is enough room for stacked harmonies and layered performances without requiring a separate multitrack recorder. BeatStars integration lets users browse, preview, and license beats in the app, which makes it easier to build around a backing track.

AI vocal separation splits an imported song into vocal and backing-track stems on the phone. Exports include MP3 for sharing and WAV for professional mixing, so users can either send a compact finished file or carry higher-quality audio into a mixing workflow.

Voloco Producer extends the product to DAWs as a vocal-processing plugin, with a resynthesizer, editable harmony grid, and sequencer. It supports VST3, AAX, AU, and standalone use. The desktop requirements are specific: macOS 11 on 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 on 64-bit Intel or AMD.

Pricing

The Free mobile app costs 0.00 USD per free and includes five effects for iPhone and Android. It is a sensible starting point for occasional recording or trying the core workflow, but it is a narrow slice of the mobile app's 70-plus effects.

Producer Monthly costs 14.99 USD per month, billed 1 month, and includes a 14 day free trial, VST3/AAX/AU/Standalone download, and over 50 free vocal presets. It fits producers who want the desktop plugin and prefer monthly billing. Producer Yearly costs 99.99 USD per year, billed 1 year, with a 14 day free trial, the same plugin formats, and over 50 free vocal presets; the displayed equivalent is $8.33 / mo. It is the lower monthly-equivalent choice for someone ready to commit for a year. Both paid plans are Producer plans, so the listed inclusions center on the desktop plugin rather than an expanded mobile-effects allowance.

Platforms

The mobile app is available for iPhone and Android. Voloco Producer runs on macOS 11 with 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon, or Windows 10 with 64-bit Intel or AMD. Those requirements make the desktop edition unsuitable for older operating systems or other processor architectures.

Who it's for

Voloco is a good fit for singers and independent creators who want to record, tune, layer, and export vocals on a phone, especially when they also want to find beats in-app. Producers who already work in a DAW may prefer Producer's plugin formats and vocal tools. It is less compelling for someone seeking a full-featured free mobile effects library, or a desktop plugin for an unsupported system.

Pros and cons

Pro: The mobile workflow combines real-time correction, effects, up to eight independently controlled vocal layers, and beat licensing.
Pro: AI stem separation works on the phone, and WAV export supports continued professional mixing.
Pro: Producer includes over 50 vocal presets and supports VST3, AAX, AU, and standalone use.
Con: The free mobile app includes only five effects, despite the broader catalog of more than 70.
Con: Producer's stated system requirements exclude older macOS and Windows versions and non-Intel/Apple Silicon or non-Intel/AMD systems.

Alternatives

Pitch Correction Software is a useful category overview for comparing options. Choose Auburn Sounds Graillon 3 if you want a free cross-platform pitch-correction plugin: its Free Edition includes pitch shifting, formant shifting, pitch correction, three pitch engines, and built-in effects, though vocal doubler, keyboard tuning, and PTM are Full-only.

OpenVoxTuner is a free option for Linux, macOS, and Windows. MeldaProduction MAutoPitch is a free Windows and macOS alternative, as is GVST GSnap, which also supports Linux. OpenTune is another free option for Windows and macOS.

For a paid desktop alternative, Waves Curves AQ is included in Waves Ultimate, which costs 24.99 USD per month or 249 per year, and offers a free trial. AutoTune Pro 11 is a paid macOS and Windows option with a free trial and a perpetual-license plan; its listed price is custom pricing. Universal Audio Topline Vocal Tune is a paid macOS and Windows option with a free trial; its plan costs 99.00 USD per once and includes three activations per license.

Verdict

Choose Voloco if you want a mobile-first vocal studio that pairs correction and effects with layered recording, beat access, stem separation, and a route into DAW production. The mix of phone-based creation and a desktop plugin is its clearest advantage. Look elsewhere if you need more than five effects without paying on mobile, or if your desktop system falls outside Producer's requirements.
