Overview

OpenVoxTuner brings automatic correction and drawn pitch curves into one VST3 plugin, with harmony generation and built-in processing alongside them. Its range is unusually broad for a free tool: scale-aware correction, MIDI input and output, and DAW timeline sync can cover a working vocal chain. But it remains a real-time effect, not a substitute for the detailed offline editing offered by dedicated pitch editors.

Key features

Correction and editing

Auto mode quantizes pitch to a selected scale, with 14 scale types and adjustable correction speed and amount. That gives producers control over how quickly and strongly notes move toward the scale, making it suitable for real-time correction without requiring manual edits. Graphic mode adds drawn pitch curves, snapping, a grid, copy and paste, and undo and redo. It offers more direct control, though still within the plugin's real-time workflow rather than offline note-level editing.

Harmony, detection, and MIDI

The harmony engine can generate up to four voices in voice or synthesized modes. Key detection can draw on audio input, the OpenVoxKey companion bridge, or a sidechain input. MIDI note output follows detected pitch, while MIDI input can steer correction pitch—useful for musicians who want external note control as part of a performance or production setup.

Effects and DAW integration

Formant processing, reverb, a noise gate, and an upward compressor are built in, so basic vocal shaping can happen in the same plugin. ARA2 integration reads key, scale, and time signature from the DAW timeline and syncs the playhead and waveform. That context can help align correction with a project, but it does not change the product's real-time nature or add offline note editing.

Pricing

OpenVoxTuner's Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes the full plugin and all features. It is free for personal and commercial use under AGPLv3, with source code available on GitHub. There is no free trial because the full plugin is free; there are no feature paywalls or telemetry, according to the maker.

This is a strong fit for musicians, producers, studios, and educators who want a capable correction plugin without a subscription or license fee. The tradeoff is not a reduced tier but the product's scope: users who need offline, note-level pitch editing should choose a dedicated editor instead. Support is directed through GitHub issues and discussions, and project sponsorships are accepted.

Platforms

OpenVoxTuner supports Linux, macOS, and Windows as a VST3 plugin. That broad desktop coverage makes it an option for studios working across those operating systems; it is not positioned as a mobile app.

Who it's for

Choose OpenVoxTuner if you want free real-time vocal correction with adjustable scale quantization, harmony, MIDI control, and integrated effects. Its commercial-use license and open-source availability also suit studios and educators seeking a tool they can use without per-seat pricing. Look elsewhere if precise offline, note-by-note editing is central to your workflow.
