Overview

You can create an inbox without signing up and choose a lifetime from 10 minutes to 24 hours. Messages are deleted when the timer expires. That short window suits throwaway registrations and quick checks; it is a poor fit for accounts that may need password resets or other follow-up mail later. SecureTempMail cannot send mail from its temporary addresses.

The service says inboxes and messages are provided as-is, without a guarantee of delivery, accuracy or retention. Treat a temporary address as disposable, not as a dependable destination for important correspondence.

Key features

Codes and safer message viewing

SecureTempMail detects verification and login codes and surfaces them for one-tap copying, cutting friction when a sign-up requires an OTP. Incoming HTML is rendered in a sandbox with scripts disabled to counter tracking pixels and malicious markup. The Trust Center says inbound mail uses TLS and opportunistic STARTTLS; these protections do not change the service's receive-only nature or its delivery caveat.

Retention, privacy and developer tools

SecureTempMail says it does not log IP addresses against inbox activity or build advertising profiles, and deletes inboxes and messages at expiry. Premium extends retention to up to 30 days and adds inbox history and search, which is more practical when a confirmation may arrive late. Developers can create and delete inboxes, read messages and use real-time webhooks through the API; the Developer plan sets a monthly request allowance.

Pricing

The Free plan is billed at $0/year and includes unlimited disposable inboxes, lifetimes up to 24 hours and four rotating domains, with ads. It is sufficient for occasional, short-lived registrations, but not for longer retention or an ad-free inbox.

Premium costs $39 per year, billed $39/year. It adds up to 30-day retention, Premium private domains, attachment downloads, no ads, inbox history and search, and priority delivery. Choose it if a disposable inbox needs to remain useful beyond a day or you need those paid features; it still does not turn the service into guaranteed email storage.

Developer costs $190 per year, billed $190/year. It includes 100k API requests per month, catch-all domains, REST API and webhooks, and an email support SLA. This is the relevant plan for automated workflows that need the stated API capacity; it is difficult to justify for ordinary personal sign-ups.

Platforms

SecureTempMail is available on the web, as a browser extension and desktop app, and through an API. The Chrome extension offers per-site aliases, one-click autofill, OTP notifications and a side-panel inbox, making repeat sign-ups less cumbersome. Desktop apps support Windows, Apple Silicon Macs and Linux; Intel Macs are not supported. The API offers inbox creation, reading, deletion and real-time webhooks.

Who it's for

It suits people separating one-off sign-ups, purchases, downloads, gaming and forum registrations from their main inbox. Teams can use it for vendor sign-ups, while QA and end-to-end testing workflows may benefit from API access and webhooks. Anyone who must send replies, retain messages reliably, or depend on delivery for critical account access should use a regular mailbox instead.

Pros and cons

Useful OTP handling: automatic detection and one-tap copying reduce the steps between receiving and entering a code.
Configurable short-term inboxes: 10-minute to 24-hour lifetimes serve quick disposable uses, while Premium extends retention to 30 days.
Privacy-minded handling: sandboxed HTML and the stated limits on IP logging and advertising profiles address common concerns with disposable mail.
Receive-only and ephemeral: you cannot send mail, and expiry deletes messages; delivery and retention are not guaranteed.
Platform caveat: the desktop app excludes Intel Macs, and free inboxes have ads and only four rotating domains.

Verdict

SecureTempMail is a strong fit for people who want short-lived, receive-only inboxes with quick OTP access, particularly if they value a browser extension or need API workflows. Its central trade-off is clear: even Premium's longer retention does not make delivery or storage dependable. Look elsewhere for a mailbox you can reply from or rely on for important messages.
