Overview

Legito is a document lifecycle and contract automation platform for teams that need to create, route, sign, and track documents. It is particularly suited to organizations building repeatable legal workflows without coding. Its free workspace makes it possible to start without a subscription, while direct signing is limited to PDFs.

Interactive templates use inserted data to automate advanced documents, and customizable workflows and approvals help move them through a defined process. Renewal tracking, document timelines, and audit trails add oversight: the timeline records who did what and when. Signatories can use a browser on any device without installing an app; BioSign also supports biometric signing of PDFs on tablets and smartphones.

Signed PDFs are encrypted using a verified third-party certificate. Integrations include no-code tools, APIs, webhooks, and DocuSign, giving teams several ways to connect Legito to existing processes. API access and deployment options suit organizations that need more than a standalone signing tool, though the PDF-only signing rule means other file types must first be converted.

Legito sits across Legal Document Automation Software, Document Template Management Software, and Contract Management Software.

Key features

Document automation: Interactive templates and inserted data can generate advanced documents without coding, a practical fit for repeatable drafting rather than one-off file signing.
Workflow and lifecycle management: Customizable approval workflows, renewal tracking, document revision history on Workspace, and external document recordkeeping help teams manage documents beyond creation.
Signatures and auditability: Built-in electronic signatures, PDF encryption, audit trails, and document timelines support accountable signing. Direct signing is restricted to PDFs; other document types are converted to PDF.
Connectivity and support: API, webhook, no-code, off-the-shelf, and DocuSign integrations support different implementation needs. Support spans knowledge resources, professional services, courses, webinars, and implementation partners.

Pricing

Legito combines a free option with paid plans and a 30-day trial for paid Workspace plans. Membership renews automatically, but users can cancel at any time at no extra cost.

Free Plan — 0.00 USD per free: Includes document lifecycle management, customizable workflows and approvals, and electronic signatures. It is a sensible starting point for trying the core lifecycle and signing functions, but the plan details give no document quota.
Starter — 6.90 EUR per month, billed monthly: The plan specifies 5 documents per month. That cap is better suited to light, predictable use than a team producing documents at higher volume.
Business — 13.90 EUR per month, billed monthly: Specifies 20 documents per month, giving higher-volume users more room than Starter, though the monthly quota remains a constraint for heavier workloads.
Workspace — custom pricing: Includes as many documents as needed, a 30-day free trial, customizable templates, revision history, external recordkeeping, analytics and managerial reporting, API integration, and permission settings. It is the clearest fit for teams that need uncapped document volume and management controls; its price is custom.
Free Workspace — free of charge forever: Legito also offers a free workspace and free electronic signature. The free workspace provides a no-cost way to begin, while the paid Workspace trial is the route to evaluate that paid plan.

No seat limits are stated for the plans. The free Starter and Business descriptions each repeat their monthly document quota; neither gives a separate additional allowance.

Platforms

Legito is available through web and API. Browser-based signing works on any device with a web browser, while BioSign supports biometric PDF signing on smartphones and tablets. The platform is described as supporting both deployment models.

Who it's for

Legito is a strong match for legal and operations teams that create recurring documents, need approval and renewal processes, and want auditability alongside signatures. Its free workspace lowers the barrier to a small-scale start, while Workspace adds uncapped documents, analytics, permissions, and API integration for broader operations.

It is less compelling for users who mainly sign documents in varied formats without conversion, or for organizations that need a predictable Workspace price before committing. Starter and Business also require attention to their 5- and 20-document monthly limits.

Pros and cons

Pro: A useful free entry point. The free workspace and electronic signatures let teams start without a paid subscription.
Pro: Automation extends beyond drafting. Templates, approvals, renewal tracking, and audit trails cover multiple stages of document work.
Pro: Flexible integration paths. APIs, webhooks, no-code options, and DocuSign integration can suit different existing workflows.
Con: Direct signing is PDF-only. Other file types have to be converted, adding a step for teams that work in multiple formats.
Con: Lower paid tiers are quota-limited. Starter allows 5 documents monthly and Business 20, which may not suit steady high-volume use.
Con: Membership renews automatically. Cancellation is free, but users need to cancel to prevent renewal.
Con: Workspace has custom pricing. Teams seeking an upfront fixed price cannot assess its cost from the stated plan terms.

Alternatives

Docassemble is a free alternative for readers who want a web-based option and do not need Legito's stated combination of lifecycle management and signing.

Verdict

Choose Legito if your team needs document automation tied to approvals, renewals, and accountable signing, and you value a free workspace as a starting point. Its strongest case is the breadth of the document lifecycle in one platform; look elsewhere if PDF conversion is unacceptable, your monthly volume exceeds the lower-tier quotas, or you need a fixed Workspace price before evaluating it.
