Overview

KaraFun brings karaoke and party-style games together across Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. KaraFun Group was founded in Lille in 2005, and the service says it adds more than 400 karaoke songs to the app each month. That steady catalog refresh supports repeat use, while the mix of quizzes and battles gives groups more to do than taking turns singing.

Key features

Song controls: Adjust key and tempo, control singers’ volumes, and enable lead, backing or guide vocals. These options make it easier to adapt a track for different voices, though KaraFun does not offer performance recording.
Shared queue: Guests can connect with a smartphone to browse the catalog and add songs. Premium allows 20 people to connect remotely; Pro raises that limit to 100, making Pro better suited to larger hosted gatherings.
Offline Sync: Premium and Pro can keep up to 1,000 songs on a device for offline playback. That is useful where connectivity is unreliable, but one account can only be active on one device at a time, even if the app is installed on several.
Vocal Match: On iOS and Android, the feature analyzes a user’s voice and matches it against songs. It does not extend to the other supported platforms.
Professional licensing: KaraFun Pro includes sound-recording rights coverage with synchronized lyrics for its licensed catalog. Public performance royalties remain the customer’s responsibility; Premium is restricted to private use, so professional or public performances call for a professional subscription.

Pricing

KaraFun is freemium, with no free trial. The free plan costs 0.00 GBP per free and provides free songs, Premium song previews, access to all features to try, and one free quiz. It is a way to sample the experience, not a substitute for the full catalog or repeat quiz play.

Premium costs 7.99 GBP per month, billed £7.99 / month. It unlocks all songs, offline sync, playlists, singer-volume, key and tempo controls, unlimited quizzes and Battle, remote connections for 20 people, and up to 1,000 downloaded songs. This is the sensible fit for private singing groups that want a full catalog and offline access; it is not licensed for public or professional performances.

Pro costs 39.99 GBP per month, billed £39.99 / month. It includes Premium features plus a commercial license, permanent QR code, advanced interface customization, remote connections for 100 people, and up to 1,000 offline songs. Venues and event hosts get higher remote capacity and professional-use coverage, but must still handle public performance royalties themselves. The account’s one-device-at-a-time limit also matters when planning a setup.

Platforms

KaraFun supports Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Vocal Match is limited to iOS and Android; other listed features include offline use, while performance recording is not offered.

Who it's for

Choose KaraFun for private groups that want adaptable karaoke tracks, a guest-managed queue, games between songs and a large offline library. Pro is the relevant tier for professional settings that need a commercial license and a larger remote audience. Look elsewhere if recording performances is essential, if you need the same account playing on several devices simultaneously, or if public-performance royalty coverage must be included.

Pros and cons

Pros: Key, tempo and vocal controls accommodate different singers; phone-based guest queueing makes group song selection participatory; offline sync holds up to 1,000 songs.
Cons: Free access is limited to free songs, previews and one quiz; Premium is private-use only; Pro does not cover public performance royalties; one account cannot be active on multiple devices at once; recording is absent.

Alternatives

For a broader karaoke software comparison, consider what kind of setup you need. OpenKJ is a free option with a free and open-source karaoke hosting plan, and its platforms include Linux; its Songbook plan is listed at 9.99 USD per month. Choose Karaoke Mugen for MIT-licensed software with no paid plan, particularly if Linux support matters. TKaraoke has a free version and supports Android, iOS and Windows. Smule suits singers who want to join existing duets at no cost, with a VIP All Access Pass at 19.99 USD per month. UltraStar Deluxe is a completely free PC karaoke game for Windows, Linux and macOS. Kanto Karaoke Player&Recorder may suit Windows users willing to start with a free version limited to five playlist songs and one-minute recordings and MIDI-to-MP3 conversion, with no professional use. Singa offers a private-use Premium subscription at 9.99 USD per month, with automatic renewal unless canceled and pricing that may vary by country. StarMaker is another freemium option for Android, iOS and web.

Verdict

KaraFun is a strong choice for private groups that want more than a song catalog: track adjustments, guest queueing, quizzes and offline playback make it versatile for shared singing. Its main drawback is the boundary between private and professional use: Pro costs 39.99 GBP per month and still leaves public-performance royalties to the customer. Pick Premium for private use; choose Pro when its commercial license and 100-person remote capacity justify the cost, and look elsewhere if simultaneous multi-device use or recording is essential.
